Excellent night time photography.

The next four images are from Bruge a simply magical small town with no end to the number of Belgian beers,
chocolates, and waffles. Museums were world class.
Those were amazing pictures. My wife and I visited Bruge several years ago as that's the part of Belgium that my maternal grandfather was from. Technically, I've still got cousins over there, but we've lost track.
Oh, and the beer is really good 🍺

We just returned from a great Spring trip to the Netherlands and Belgium. The first three images are from Amsterdam, it is a big city with crazy traffic and dangerous bicycles but great history, tulips in bloom, large museums, and historic windmills.

The last three are from Ghent which is close to Bruge but a larger city with even more amazing things to see.
I am glad we spent some time in Amsterdam but the smaller towns in Belgium were more our style. The history of course is incredible, the beautiful churches all had relics and world class paintings and sculptures. The buildings in the old town sections of both cities in Belgium dated from the 1600's perhaps some even older. All three of the cities had beautiful canals throughout with great boat rides. They were all very easy to walk around but I have to admit we felt less comfortable after dark in Amsterdam. In Bruge and Ghent I was out most nights until midnight or 1:00am. The food and sidewalk cafes were wonderful everywhere. It was a great area to visit!

Hi Pierre, thanks for the comments. We were going to go to Brussels but changed it to Ghent after seeing Bruge. Those two cities were much more enjoyable than Amsterdam for us. It was our first time there...

Super set, Dave! I was in Amsterdam in 2002, and my biggest mistake was leaving my 35mm kit at home and using a couple of digital cameras of the day with a whopping 4 megapixel sensor. I have my memories for computer viewing but nothing printable bigger than 8x10.
I’m a huge fan of “available darkness” photography, and these are great. I’m not sure of why you show your Bruges set with the signature AND the location, but that really helps me as a viewer to keep the locations in mind for future reference, so kudos for that touch too.
In the image of the bus/tram/? Stop the inclusion of people makes the image contrasted to the empty cafe tables in the background.
In Amsterdam it was intriguing to see a take one/leave one bicycle policy, if i parked my bike at the train station, i don’t think I would ever see it again 😳
Thanks so much for the excellent night tour.JohnV
