Found a website for Nikon D 800. A package with two Nikon lens 24-70/2.8 G and 70- 200/2.8G.( see link below). The price is unbelievable. Called and got answer that these are overseas models that made of plastic other than metal of us model. In addition , they are made in Nikon overseas manufactural like Malaysia or Thailand other than Japan. Anybody has idea ? Is it true ? And the quality of those overseas models are the same or similar compare to the us model.
Here is the link

No problem, that is if you can read Japanese menus..
What baloney-EVERY camera has Japanese menus. They also have German menus, Spanish menus, French menus, etc. The end user selects the menu language. It's just another ploy to hook you into buying the 'official USA' version at an inflated price. The only thing 'wrong' with buying grey market camera gear is the face that the official US importer will not (usually) honor the warranty. Sometimes they won't even service or repair it even if you're willing to pay. My personal experience with a grey market Sony body was that even though it was grey market, and I created the problem with my clumsiness, they fixed it quickly and FREE. It's not always bad!

And I bet the French menus include frog legs and fois gras. :D
Nikon will not even talk to you if you buy gray market. No support at all.
If you click on kit includes it is blank this price is for body only.
Sounds like a virtual office to go with the virtual camera:-)

Not quite Jerry, Nikon will still fully back that camera, its just that NikonUSA will not work on it. It can be repaired at a cost (non-warranty repair) through any authorized Nikon repair centers in the US, just not Melville or El Segundo which are the two Nikon USA Warranty repair centers. If you want warranty repairs it will have to be shipped to one of the multitude of Nikon International Warranty Repair Centers around the world.

The difference being that the Nikon will still work when you fish it out!

I think it's quite clear that it's the body plus the two lenses quoted. But, I'm prepared to bet that it doesn't come with a battery and if you take them up on their 'generous' offer you'll find they're not genuine Nikon batteries, and the 8GB card that they throw in 'Free' will be some obscure make too. In fact, you'll probably find that it comes with nothing unless specifically stated; i.e. No instruction book maybe?
Makes me wonder just how much business these outfits do and how long they stay in business before the local AG goes after them?

I can't speak to Nikon since I walk on the darkside. Canon has a policy that any equipment not bought from a US dealer is not covered by their US warranty.
I have however been told by a Canon customer service rep that despite this they usually take care of customers with equipment from non dealers and I also have heard reports of their servicing grey market products under warranty.
Nikon on the other hand have been getting a very stinky reputation lately for poor customer service. This would make me want an undertaking from them to service equipment from this supplier, before buying a camera which has had many reports of problems.
