We all know that there are thousands of satellites circling the earth, and probably millions of pieces of space junk orbiting with them. This is becoming a problem for astronomers. The SpaceX satellites - more than 4,200 so far - are especially distracting because there are so many of them, and they are so bright. Efforts to make them less bright haven't been successful. There have been efforts to require all satellites to include a way to de-orbit them, but launchers aren't cooperating. It's more technology and more weight.
It's funny how everything that humans do causes problems.

None of the stuff human do would cause problem including burning fossil fuel, chopping the forest for wood etc.. but they all become problems when they are done excessively then even the eating would cause problem.
You are right Jerry. We are turning space into a garbage dump.

And apparently it will get a lot worse - it seems China and Russia, viewing Starlink as a potential weapon for the west, are planning their own low-orbit galaxies of satellites - which may include weaponry to destroy other satellites.

Destroying satellites is a very bad idea. When China destroyed one of its own, it spread thousands more pieces of junk in orbit.

Mankind has several fatal flaws...not surprising since we are relatively new.
One of them is the ability to calculate accurately convenience vs. cost.
The 'shiny object' syndrome is well in play all the time.
So are the 'hangovers'.

Maybe we should eat the satellites and fossil fuel. That might eliminate a bunch of problem-causing humans.

Just need to be moderate in everything.
On the bright side, the more space junk that orbits the earth the more that it blocks the sun's rays so in a way, it helps prevent Global Warming.π

For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Or another way of saying karma.

Well, who else would they blame?

Itβs only a matter of time when space junk will be falling out of the sky, on ppl, like other types of pollution. Plastic in the oceans EG. Till then, out of sight, out of mind. Then itβs a scramble to address it!!?
