Your digital artistry work is always impeccable.

The young lady, Elspeth, turned-up at a 'knights and horses' shoot. Her mount was really quite stunning but rather new to all the charging about in a muddy field and ended-up falling over. Fortunately both horse and rider were fine and stayed until the end of the shoot. I thought Elspeth looked quite mysterious in her hooded cloak, designed to hide her riding helmet. Here, they are composited into a background local to me, Agglestone Rock which lies on a bit of raised ground in the middle of Purbeck's Great Heath, not far from the sea. Your critique is always welcome.

I do not find the sky in your original photo distracting at all. Your second photo with a different sky is also nice, but it totally changes the mood. Again, both are extremely well done, but I prefer the drama and moodiness of your original post.

Yes, I will stick with the original - good to try both though. Thanks for taking a look.

That’s nice to hear Bob, especially from someone whose processing is so spot-on! Many thanks.

I think this is an amazing image!! I do agree with Linda though..even if the clouds in the sky were just a tad lighter. Overall...love it!

I also like the original photo. After reading Linda's post I had to go back and look at the original as the sky did not distract me from the Over welling rock, horse, and rider. I feel the original sky blends quite well.

There's a kids novel in there, somewhere. This looks like an excellent cover for it!

Nicely done technically Dave. To me this one just doesn't "feel" right and I have no idea why.

I understand Linda’s point and agree somewhat but I like the overall mystery of the first image better.

Pleased you like it Pp, I’ll try brightening the sky a bit. Thanks for your thoughts on it.

I’ll stick with the original SHG, like you, I don’t find it distracting. I’ll see what it’s like a little brighter though. Thanks for commenting.

OK, we’ve got a deal, you write the novel and I’ll supply the cover - I’m ahead of you here, the cover is done!
Thanks for looking in, it’s appreciated.

Hi Helen, must admit I don’t find the sky distracting - but I see that’s it’s a bit ‘busy’. It’s got to stay though! Thanks for your comment.

What makes this convincing for me is the direction of the light. It appears to be coming from the left and behind the rider. That is exactly what is also reflected in the rock. Fun story and a really well done composite.

Thanks Erich. I had to the flip the horse and rider to achieve that - which made me worry the young lady might object (as I’m sure she will know every spot on that horse!). Her mum asked for the file so I suggested she flip the whole thing before printing!
