I've been at it a while - I've taken over two million pictures, and I have never found an action I wanted that Photoshop couldn't do - if you are having problems go to Amazon and get Scott Kelby's Photoshop book - he writes very well

If the issue is training, you might be able to do what I did. A few years ago, before COVID, I took a class, first in Lightroom and then later in Photoshop itself, at one of the local community colleges, and it was totally free. Now this might just be a California thing, but they have a program providing free classes for people to enhance their 'marketable skills'. And despite the fact that I was retired and over 70 years old, it made no difference. The only thing was once you signed-up, you had to attend a certain number of sessions, or you would charged a fee since you 'wasted' a seat in the class that someone else could have filled. Now the class was about two and half hours, once a week in the evening, for the full length of the semester. Afterwards, we were given certificates and continuing education credits. This program also included other classes addressing work-related topics like Microsoft Office and website development. I think they're now even offering classes in things like Python and so on.

Since your screen changed white I would check if your graphics driver needs an update.

I did see that but I had a nice quote in my clipboard and thought it fit the basic idea of posters just saying "I'm not going to use X any more..." without giving the whole story at the start.

Look at ON1 RAW as well as Topaz Lab. There are a number of other good ones out there, without having to pay Adobe a monthly ransom.

You can't blame the OP for that. He gave the reason before your post. One can't tell the whole story. If you have question ask and the OP answered what's is the problem?

I have older copies of Photoshop and lightroom. They are stand alone programs and I own them. My latest gripe is the new "subscription" concept. Now you can't own software you must "rent" it via on going subscription fees.

The plus is that updates are automatic buy you must be connected to the internet to use it.

Personally, I preferred to purchase for a one time fee and "update" if the newer version gave me something I didn't have but would use.

Plus, I could take anywhere.

What if I wanted to hike up to a remote cabin on camp out in a tent in the mountains. There may or may not have internet. What good is the program then

One of the companies I worked for near the end {I’m retired now} went to something that was basically ‘software rent’ because it provided the company a steady income stream and the customers regular updates. I was laid off before I saw how it worked out.
