Ok. I’m in. Sign me up for your PS workshop, Roni. 😁

Ok. It would be so fun.
another fun location is Cape Cod. I stayed in Hyannis for a PPA conference and it was a great location.

Long Island is another location. I live about 10 minutes from a Ukranian Monastery. It is an old Gold Coast mansion, they have a retreat house we could rent.

If I could make a suggestion. . . I know there are beautiful places on both coasts to photograph. But for logistics and cost savings, wouldn't it be better to meet somewhere in the middle?

Will float this idea, well knowing that there are logistical and financial issues, but!….

What are the chances of arranging a “Convention” someplace where we could all meet up for a meet and greet and educational interaction?

We could have tech workshops and photo critiques. We could have OEM’s, camera stores, printing shops and other photo suppliers as sponsors to help with the costs.

Could become an annual thing, would probably start out slow but I could see it growing into quite something! That’s a convention I would be happy to attend.

I would be willing to host such an event. But I would recommend our local shooting site. Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Florida. I would suggest middle of March to middle of April for the best time to shoot there. There are many hotels that could house folks.
As a further suggestion, we could hit a different site each day, Wako one day, then Green Cay that is a mile away, Peaceful Waters, a 30 minute drive, and it possible, a trip to Sabastian Inlet State Park to shoot Osprey's, that would be a 2 hour drive, also there is Stick March, we could do that the same day and it is a breading grounds for Spoonbills, then an hour south of Delray would be Vista View park for burrowing owl nests.
Could be a great 3 to 4 day event.

This sounds excellent! I’m in!!!

And several years ago I met a bunch of people through a similar meetup in Yellowstone! It started as a couple of questions here, and ended up with a bunch meeting in Yellowstone…:::and I’ve stayed friends with many of them since then!

For driving, yeah. But if you're flying, there's not often that much difference in cost. In fact, flying to a central location that doesn't have a major airport might cost even more than going cost to coast.

Just don't invite any Attic denizens.

If some of them ever met face to face things could get bloody.

Yeah, but think of all the great photo ops it'd provide!!

I think it is a great idea. Count me in depending on when and where.

Sounds good. Mini-meet-ups could also be done for areas such as Central Florida, East Texas, North Illinois, Western NY, etc.

I like the idea but since we have members all over the world it would not be feasible for many. Depending where in the US IF planned here, I would not be interested in certain places, However a LIVE STREAM option event would allow those to participate via live stream. Just a thought.
Bruce.

I went to the Badlands several years ago organized through this forum. At the time the management didn't like the idea this trip was being planned through here but that was before the open general discussion section was founded.
Small to mid-size groups work the best.
Usually someone has to take the lead and do some planning and organizing. Anything within 5-600 miles of Minneapolis would be fine with me.
May be fun to get so organized a few people could drive together.
We have a major, 12,000 car hot rod show here in the Twin Cities in mid-June if anyone is into that type of thing.

If someone/some people want to meet up in North or South Dakota, I’m game. Those are two states I need to check off my list. :-)

The idea sounds very appealing and would offer wonderful photo ops that hopefully one or two or three people could oversee to facilitate the best spots for specific areas of the country. Whatever transportation method chosen by the participants may even offer some additional photo ops. I would be interested in visiting numerous places in the states.

The idea of then offering up selected photos for comments and critique by the group could be an added benefit.
