I have been a member of this forum for years. I really like it. I have wonderful interactions and learning experiences with many members.

Will float this idea, well knowing that there are logistical and financial issues, but!….

What are the chances of arranging a “Convention” someplace where we could all meet up for a meet and greet and educational interaction?

We could have tech workshops and photo critiques. We could have OEM’s, camera stores, printing shops and other photo suppliers as sponsors to help with the costs.

Could become an annual thing, would probably start out slow but I could see it growing into quite something! That’s a convention I would be happy to attend.

I've often thought it would be great fun to actually meet the friends I've made here.

I've personally met several hoggers on shoots arranged through PM's here on the UHH. All but one worked out very well! But I have to say, I'm not a "convention" kind of guy. One on one works for me, big groups, not so much. Having said that, I could see it working for those who are into that sort of thing! A lot of folks with common interests!

I understand. I too am a one-on-one and small group person as well. Would be very happy to meet up with anyone who wants to! According to your Bio, you are a traveling RV person. If you are ever in Michigan or Nantucket, let me know. Would be happy to meet you.

Anyone else who will be in or live in my area, (suburb of Detroit) let me know. Would be great to meet.

I like the idea of a gathering but would not be interested in a "convention" type of gathering. Maybe just a large meetup.

I love this idea. I would be willing to attend, depending on when and where. I can teach some photoshop stuff & using my 360 camera.

I have done this before with a small group who met on one of the sub forums. We rented a house on the Maine coast and spent a week photographing cool stuff we don't normally see and having informal teaching sessions where we presented things we were especially good at or interested in for the group, sharing our photos, etc. We shared cooking duties and grocery costs so it was very inexpensive.

I'm wondering if we could prevail on some of our "experts" to critique images. I'm think of Mr. Foreground Cany, and bird expert Joe. We really need Mr. Brown for flowers, if anyone know how to get ahold of him. I find I get more out of critique sessions than I do "teaching" sessions. Just going out and shooting together for a couple of days would be fun - then sharing what we got!

Just don't invite any Attic denizens.

If some of them ever met face to face things could get bloody.

I live in St. Charles Mi. Home to the Shiawassee Flats. I have met many people from downstate who regularly photograph at Kensington metro park who travel up to the Shiawassee National wildlife refuge once the auto tour opens up. Never know might bump into you up here. I usually boat from my house to the refuge to photograph but also do the auto tour.

I would be willing to host such an event. But I would recommend our local shooting site. Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Florida. I would suggest middle of March to middle of April for the best time to shoot there. There are many hotels that could house folks.
As a further suggestion, we could hit a different site each day, Wako one day, then Green Cay that is a mile away, Peaceful Waters, a 30 minute drive, and it possible, a trip to Sabastian Inlet State Park to shoot Osprey's, that would be a 2 hour drive, also there is Stick March, we could do that the same day and it is a breading grounds for Spoonbills, then an hour south of Delray would be Vista View park for burrowing owl nests.
Could be a great 3 to 4 day event.
