Cheers and best to you.

You asked a simple question. Why 8-pages later people are littering your thread with images, who knows ....

Great Scott!! we have generated 8 pages on weather or not to put a UV filter on the camera. Put it on for safety - you won't see any effect on image quality. If you don't want a filter take your chances and live with the consequences.
Fretting over such minor issues will result in madness.

Agonizing about how many pages a conversation generates, especially a free, advertisement sponsored social media site is beyond madness. Clicks generate revenue. Revenue keeps the web sites lights on. If one doesn't have anything to offer to a conversation or isn't interested in the actual conversation, move on.

I believe that if someone brings up the topic of protective filters again in any context, it will generate another 8 pages of postings, mostly by the same people. And after that, same thing. By the way, the one image I posted here was to assist with a joke. I'm sure you realized that.

I think who has been littering is obvious, especially after the OP's update they've purchased a filter for the lens ...

And the folks who own the web site love it because that's how it makes money.

Make sure you only buy from a reputable store like B&W, Adorama or another store you can trust because there are many counterfeits out there, same with memory cards. Personally, I don't trust Amazon or Ebay when it comes to certain photography products like these.
