I am just starting to use ON1 Photo RAW 2023, and am wondering if there is material available that describes in detail the various functions available, similar to Adobe’s Classroom in a Book series. I am considering Scott Davenport’s book, which seems to cover all the details. There also appear to be many video tutorials showing usage of various functions, but I am looking for a reference to explain in detail what functions are available and why they would be used. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am using a 27" iMac, and have migrated from Lightroom. My usage is only as an enjoyable hobby - family photos and landscapes using a Sony RX10 IV.

The tutorials on the ON1 website are quite comprehensive - and concise! Also, customer service is responsive and helpful. You will find a short explanation is shown on the screen for many of the available processes. As to why the various postprocessing functions would be used, that pretty much is in common with all such software!

Thanks all for your helpful comments. I agree that there are many great videos available for learning more about ON1. I actually have subscribed to the ON1-Plus series, and am learning lots. What I am trying to find are videos similar to those produced by Jakob Bors, of Clever Photographer, where he describes in detail all the functions and adjustments existing in Luminar Neo. I guess I’m just going to have to dive in and start using ON1 to get a ‘hands-on" education in order to be more familiar with it.

And I thought I was the only one. I’ve always felt that the videos, while okay, were demos of the “see what I can do” variety instead of actually being instructive. Just my opinion, other may disagree.

Exactly my opinion! Combine this with the very little free time I have, and it takes much longer to accomplish the same results that I see in the videos. My feeling is usually "Huh! How did they do that - what control did they use?"

Scott Davenport offers one-on-one, Zoom sessions, in one- and two-hour increments. It’s well worth the money and will accelerate your learning curve.

I have been an ON1 user for a l-o-n-g time - since they used to be called Perfect Photo or something like that. Anyway, I am an ON1 subscriber and just found this "quick start" course that might be of use: https://www.on1.com/videos/?fwp_video_library_categories=on1-quick-start-2023%2C2023

I agree with others that Scott Davenport is a great source of information for ON1. You may also check out Anthony Morganti and Free Will Photography (Chris Scott) on YouTube for some really good videos.

I would recommend signing up to the ON1 plus membership as this stuff is very difficult to read.

Scott D's videos are very good. Plus ON1 Plus membership offers many introductory and advanced education offerings, along with many user add ons.
