792 CREDIT SCORE REJECTED BY PAYBOO

After waiting approximately, 4 weeks since applying for my Payboo credit card, including a phone call about a week ago from Payboo asking again about my annual income. Then advising me, they still couldn't give me answer but would respond by mail. On Saturday, 4/18, I received my rejection letter. I immediately checked my credit score which was 792! Therefore, I will not be getting back the $85 tax paid on my $1,928 B&H order. As a very happy & loyal B&H customer this is quite DISAPPOINTING as well as a "let down", after waiting almost a month, only to be rejected. Considering, I was approved for a half million dollar mortgage in less than a week, I find this totally unacceptable! Therefore, my advice to B&H is to have COMMENITY bank, APPROVE OR REJECT THE PAYBOO APPLICATION WITHIN 7 DAYS OR FIND ANOTHER BANK! As my favorite photography store, you really don't want to leave a customer with a negative experience after making a purchase.

The situation is that Comenty Bank and B and H work quite separately. The bank is the one that approves credit card applications. Yes, they do have an association with B and H but they make the rules regarding who gets a card and who doesn't. This is an issue you'll need to take up with the bank.

I closed my Payboo Account in January, a Citi card was hacked and stolen information, and then my brokerage account was hacked with the scammers trying to steal money.

I went through all accounts that I had and if I was not using it I closed it.
I should have asked Commenity to issue a new card with a different number.

My credit is in the 800’s and I have never had a problem getting a new account to take advantage of an offer because I always pay in full by the offer deadline.

Synchrony Bank just raised my Lowe’s limit

B&H is going to lose business because of the move in banks.

Unfortunately, I feel I've wasted enough of my time in applying for this card to begin with. It would be fool hearty for me to believe I would be (1) willing to spend any more of my time trying to convince this bank of my favorable credit rating rating and (2) much less that they would reverse their original decision.
The primary point of writing this communication, is to advise B&H by partnering with this bank, they are subjecting their customers that have a favorable credit score to rejection after waiting a prolonged period of time for this (in my opinion) unwarranted decision.

My question is, did you get an explanation as to why you were not approved for the Payboo card by Commenity Bank?

will

When the bank lend you the mortgage they know you will pay them every month with interest. When PAYBOO considered you application for the card they also think that you will pay off the balance before the grace period is over and thus they will not make any money on you.

The letter I received, states the following:
"Based on information provided during our recent communication, we are unable to approve your application for a B&H Payboo Credit Card for the following reason(s):"

"We were unable to verify your identity" This is totally absurd! The first sentence of the following paragraph states, "Our credit decision was based in whole or in part on information obtained in a report from the consumer reporting agency (EQUIFAX) listed below". The rest of the paragraph goes on to state, "under the Fair Credit Reporting Act", I have the right to know the information contained in my Equifax credit file. It further goes on to state, "that the reporting agency, (EQUIFAX) played NO part in our decision and is unable to supply specific reasons why we have denied credit to you". WHAT???? If the credit agency played no part in your decision, WHAT DID YOU BASE YOUR DECISION ON?? I find this reason contradictory and totally ABSURD!!

It further states, I have a right to a free copy of my (EQUIFAX) credit report if I request it no later than 60 days after this notice and if I find any information in the report to be inaccurate or incomplete I have the right to dispute the matter with (EQUIFAX) the reporting agency. Again, If the credit agency played no part in your decision, WHAT DID YOU BASE YOUR DECISION ON?? They, Comenity Bank fails to ever state a (specific) reason for the rejection. I find both (1) that no reason is offered for this decision and (2) that they were unable to verify my identity, simply OUTRAGEOUS! This clearly doesn't bode well for B&H and their partnership with this very questionable bank.

Kind of sounds like the type of response one gets from the VA or the IRS

Sounds like a terrible situation all around. However, it seems as if your indignation and some poorly worded communications have caused you to miss the point they were making. All they were saying is that the credit agency only provided their information to the bank. It was the bank alone that made the decision to deny credit. So, either the credit agency information was inaccurate in some way (which you should check), or the bank for it’s own reasons decided not to extend credit.

While this is a minor issue financially, it may be a red flag to suggest that you dig further into what the credit agencies have on your records.

I agree that this mess does not reflect well on B&H, despite the fact that they had no part in the decision.

Sounds like a typo. Check your original application to see if there are transposed numbers in your social security number, address, or other data.

There seems to be a national database of mailing addresses. I assume this originates with the US Post Office. After I start typing the first few characters of an address in a form with Google Maps, for instance, I’m given a list of street addresses, in multiple towns, which start with those numbers.

This list has its preferred spellings. I live on a ‘lane’. Some of these street lists have my address as abcxxx LN, and won’t accept the full spelling of ‘Lane’ or the lower case ‘ln’.

If they can’t identify you, they did not get a match with the data that they expected.

That might not be a bad thing. If you are as paranoid as I am, you might later appreciate that ‘they’ can’t find you.

The problem is your dealing with a computer generated system without the human element.
I had the same issue, and after CALLING THEM ON THE PHONE (have you done this?) I found out that it was an address issue. The computer system would not take my address correctly, after talking out the issue on the phone we got it figured out.
You know, instead of coming here and airing your dirty laundry why don't you put on your BIG BOY PANTS and call them. Try growing up and taking care of your own problems for a change instead of coming here and crying like a child. GROW UP.

They may have done you a favor. It says they cannot verify your ID. That is a red flag. I suggest you get that Equifax report and dig into it to make sure that there are no errors, that no one has used credit in your name, etc. There may be a problem looking that you have yet to discover.

By law, banks must provide an explanation for declining your application. It may be a form letter but there must always be a reason. For example, too much revolving debt, past delinquencies, etc. I know this as I have been in the banking field many years as a regulatory compliance officer. Perhaps you may want to read that letter again.
