I have several Kindles, and I like them for two main reasons: price and storage. I have almost 2,000 pages of ukulele songs on my Kindles. Storage is no problem because it accepts MicroSD cards. I put about 150 songs (2.9GB) in DropBox for a friend to download, but her iPad can't store them - not enough room. Now, she'll have to remove things from her iPad to fit the songs. I'm glad that my Kindle and cell phones accept SD cards for virtually unlimited storage. The cards also make it easy to transfer files from one device to another.
She could buy a kindle or you could gift her one. Problem solved!

No, she bought an iPad because she wanted one - top of the heap, not an Amazon cheapie.
What capacity does her iPad have? Mine has 256 gig of storage and I’m using but a small portion of that.
iPads will take external storage. Just need an adapter to plug in SD card. Or plug in an SDD memory direct. Use “Files” app to store or access files.

Whatever storage it has, I'm surprised that she's filled it.

I don't store music, I store pictures and books but to cover all bases I have 3 Nooks, one iPad, one Kindle and of course a few laptops(PC) of various ages and 5 PC desktops between the family members. Memory cards???? don't know, I never counted all of them, SD & micro SD of various classes and speeds, CF and several external HDD and SSD.

The book with all the songs is about an inch thick - and heavy.

I have a couple of them in my car, loaded with music. They're so small that I can close the USB door after inserting them.

I did not know your ‘ukelele repertoire’ runs into thousand pages. That must include the chords. Yes?
