From my recent trip to Israel. They recommended taking a picture of the sign designating where you were each time. All the photos between the first sign and the next one would be from the first site visited. It really helped naming the photos when I returned.

Yep snapping a pic of local signs is good way to document the photos. :)
You can also write notes and snap pic of the notes, for example the daily plan , or notes on what you just visited.

In 1972 I was on a flight crew that flew from Adanna, Turkey to Amman, Jordan. Geographically the flight should have taken about 45 minutes, up and down. However, the State of Israel had already told Dept. of State (U.S.) that our flying over the mid-east area would be very unsettling b/c of our cargo. So, we were forced to overfly Iran, part of the Indian Ocean and up the Red Sea and into Amman. Four or five extra hours were required but Dept. of State held firm and we flew the long route. Upon arrival we were met by an American Air Force Officer on assignment to the American Embassy. He told us the reason the airport and entire town were in a state of excitement was the discovery of a tomb of similar structure that had recently been discovered. According to our liason there were only a very few of these caves ever found. At that time civilization had no way of proving whether or not each cave could have been THE cave. Since interest quickly abated we figured the authorities had decided the new cave was NOT what they hoped. The finding of the actual tomb is the only hope people of that area have in life. Biblical scholars still hold hopes of a true find.

Sure does not look like the tomb I saw in Israel.
