Imagine becoming a competent jazz pianist in just three months. That's what Ryan Gosling did for the movie "La La Land." I saw a clip of him playing, and I watched to see if he was really playing. He was. Then I did a search to see if he had a history as a piano player. He learned to play in three months just for the film. So, by the Fourth of July, you can expect to see a clip of me playing jazz on the keyboard.

Imagine being the director of a movie with both Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds.

No, Jerry. He learned to imitate a Jazz pianist. Combine lots of focused practice with the technical manipulation possible in a movie studios, and voila . . . A performance is created.

In some movies , that needed a expert pianist , there was the expert hiding behind the actor and had his arms and hands at the side of actor , and actually playing the piano .

Right. I was looking for that. That would be a perfect opportunity for a laugh in a comedy. Have the hands totally different from the person playing.

My friend who plays and composes a lot of music for the piano taught his cat to play in 5 minutes. (Actually, he taught the cat to relax while he held it in his lap and played with the cat's paws, hilarious!)

Have you ever seen the chickens that can play the piano?

Jerry, I don't think your house will hold 136 pianos.
Do you intend making these as well?

Alan

I have a keyboard sitting n the garage, just waiting for someone to rescue it and bring it inside. One will be more than enough.

That's 137 now. Cocobolo 8-string.

I can imagine Ryan Gosling doing that.

For the movie CODA, Emilia Jones learned AMSLAN, singing (she had never had any profesional singing experience previously) and how to operate a professional fishing trawler, all in around 9 months. For her performance in the movie she received 13 wins and 25 nominations for awards, including a BAFTA for best actress in a eading role. Quite an accomplishment for a young actress.

AppleTV purchased distribution rights to it for 25 Million USD.

Total BS. Not possible. It would take years to learn to play with the facility in the movie. Neither was he really playing but he also could not dance. UGH!

And the camera shot the scene thru a mirror and confused everyone who wasn't upside down.

Update: He knew how to play the piano, but he was not a jazz player. That's what he worked on for three months.

Three whole months . . . To learn a skill that takes years to master?

It’s “Hollywood” which thrives on fantasy. Part acting, part breaking up a scene into numerous retakes, and part technology that can make anyone into a on key singer. It may be done well and become believable; but it is not real.
