Great shots! Not to throw a wet blanket on your post but several years ago one of the balloons in that region crashed and killed about 17 people. The crew was not properly trained, the balloon was not currently inspected. Balloon rides were suspended for some time, then resumed when a public outcry was heard about lost revenue. Without any significant change in procedures!

I don’t know about that prior incident, but all the “Balloon Pilots “ are trained and licensed. It was a lot of fun. Tourism is Egypts number one industry. 😀

Yes, I know! That's why the Balloonist were screaming bloody murder when they were shut down. I'm sure it was a lot of fun! Just not for that balloon ride on that date!

I hope I get to go. I head to Jordan and Egypt in 53 days (not that I'm counting, LOL) and the only "optional activity," as I think it's called, is a balloon ride (weather-permitting) from Luxor following 5 days on the Nile. It was an expensive extravagance, but I'm adding a day pre-trip and one post trip (jet-lag recovery and 60th birthday in Cairo instead of 3 different planes). It will be my longest, farthest and most expensive trip to date - I hope t blow it out of the water at some point, maybe for retirement. I'm using Overseas Adventure Travel, the same company I used in 2016 when I went to Israel.
