Got my 7000 a year ago with 2 En 15 batts. Moderate and equal use of both. Suddenly one showed usage of "4", tried charge/discharge a few times but to no avail. Other batt says age "0" still. Checked serial number and not in the recall batch. Nikon basically says, oh well. Any suggestions appreciated.

Batteries aren't perpetual. Usage, how many recharges, cold all can affect battery life. Meanwhile...the Power2000 ACD-410 Battery for Nikon EN-EL15 for the D7000 will fit the bill at half the price of the Nikon. Available at your nearest photo dealers, and online guys too.

See, it never pays to buy those cheap imitation batteries. They just don't last. Whoops! I see you're talking about genuine Nikon batteries. :D

Lithium-Ion batteries are highly susceptible to damage from moisture. I ruined a Nikon EN-EL3 for my D90 once while shooting in Yellowstone in the summer heat. I had a spare battery in my pocket and was doing some strenuous climbing for mountain goats, needless to say I was working up a sweat. The battery got damp and when I went to install it later (next day after it had dried) it was dead, never would recharge either. Could your battery have suffered a similar fate?
I now have 4 of the EN-EL 15's for my D800's and NEVER keep a spare in my pocket because of this incident.

Lithium-Ion batteries are highly susceptible to da... (show quote)

When MT says he was doing strenuous climbing, you have to remember that he carries about 400 lbs of photo gear with him. :D

I have the battery grip on my D800 and use the EN-EL18's in it us keep two EN-EL15's handy. It's -27c here in the oil patch right now and the batteries don't like the cold.

Nikon will sell you a new one for over $50.

I recently bought one of the $20 ones from China on Amazon. It is works like a champ.

Where do you Nikon's batteries are made? I don't know, but China wouldn't surprise me.

Thank you for your suggestions. The batts have been well taken care of, but I think once I had in my pocket and maybe got a little wet with a rain. I understand btts have limited warranty but Nikon still was not very understanding. It is made in Japan, further processed in China. I will get a third party to replace it.

I suspect they come off the same assembly lines.

So you can buy one for $20 without the Nikon label or one for $56 with the label. Seems a bit pricey for a label...but some think it matters.
