Here are a couple sets of images using focus bracketing on the R5. It's something I've never done before, but I'm really loving the results. I want to get out and try this with landscapes where there are some very close foreground elements.
The first image in each "pair" is a single exposure with the front-most point of the subject in focus. The second image in each pair is the result of using focus bracketing to take several images with shifting focus, then aligning and blending in PS. The first two sets used the RF85 f/2.0 (at 5.6) in Macro mode. The last set I used the RF 24-105 at f/5.6 and about 43mm.
Single exposure with focus on front of coin. 85mm f5.6
Set of stacked images to get entire coin in focus. 85mm f5.6
Single exposure with front bottle in focus
Stacked image using focus bracketing (yes, the bottles are in a different order)
Using RF 24-105 at 43mm, f5.6 Single exposure with nose only in focus
Blended / stacked image using 22-23 images blended in PS to get entire model in focus.
It's a useful and fun technique. Nice set.

And the R5 makes it so easy! Just push the shutter button and bbbrrrrrrrp - 20 images in less than a second!
So, are you using Photoshop to combined these photos. The results are beautiful. Nice going.

Yes, you select the images set in Lightroom, then right click and "Edit images as layers" in Photoshop. From there you first >>Edit >> Align Layers, then Edit >> blend layers and like magic you end up with a single image that has everything in focus.
Great demonstration, Basil.
Very nice. Note in the second image of the coin that the forground and back ground are out of focus which in my view are distracting because it looks like horizontal smear. Just something to be aware of; in this case it could be croped out. They say the Spring flowers in NM are amazing right now.

Thanks you. I was wondering about that myself. Notice especially in the stacked coin image (the second image in my OP) there seems to be a blurry out-of-focus border all around the image, not just in the foreground I'm thinking (though not certain) that as I moved the focus point back, the foreground became more out of focus, which shows up in the blending process. I'm also wondering if the fact that the 85mm f2 lens I used suffers from pretty noticeable focus breathing might have impacted the image? I say that because in the image of the KIC-135, that artifact isn't as noticeable and that image was shot with my RF 24-105, which doesn't have focus breathing as bad as the 85.
Not sure?

Not sure is right about the edges which I didn't notice before. It has the appearance of a blurred border and I don't know why. Perhaps someone else will know.

I don't know why either. Maybe someone more experiences at focus bracketing can chime in?
Just for fun, I took my focus stacked image of the KC-135 and played around in Photoshop to delete the base and the cabinet.
