I want to thank all of you who have offered suggestions. This is a highly personal issue and one that depends solely on how one likes to learn. I have looked at the Photo Society and Creative Live and may subscribe. Lynda.com used to be a fabulous source with outstanding presentations and now has become much more mercenary and less accessible but always worth a try. I have taken Udemy courses but that site is heavily invested in Affinity Photo.
It would take a long time to put together from YouTube what you can get in the best of online courses from reliable sources. If you have been lucky to find such courses I am always interested.

Creative Live has a good selection of very reasonably priced photography courses, from well-recognized instructors; e,g., Frans Lanting, Matt Kloskowski, Chris Burkard, Marc Muench, and Art Wolfe. John Greengo's "Fast Start" series offers an excellent introduction to various specific cameras. Once you buy a course you can view it over and over as many times as you want.

Creative Live frequently will show a course free, get on their maillist. Had a couple by Franz Lanting last week

Great Courses are available for free through my local public library. You may want to investigate same in your area.

I'd rather waste time, than both time and money. I can cut the time when it seems wasted. It's harder to claw-back wasted money.

But you know what's good and bad, many others looking for help, especially novices, won't have your expertise.

That's why they shouldn't be spending more money until they've reviewed / exhausted what is available free ....

The point is the ratio of bad to good is far more favorable to an unsophisticated consumer on the curated sites, but free is always irresistible to some.

Linked-In Learning (Formerly Lynda) has a bunch of photo and photo processing learning modules. You can get them free online through your local library. You just need a library card. Because the modules are curated by Linkd-In, the quality of material and the production values are fairly high. I have 'attended' several of them and have not been disappointed. They range from complete novice to journeyman level skills. I urge all to check it out.
