Today it is a museum that is open from May thru October with tours and some special events scheduled through that time.
Davy Crockett gained fame early in life as a pioneer, frontiersman, later to become a U S Congressman from his home state of Tennessee.
Shortly after losing re-election in 1835 his fate awaited him at the Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution where he either died in battle or was executed upon being captured by the Mexican Army.

When he returned and lost his seat in Congress, he famously said, “I told the people of my district that I would serve them faithfully as I had done; but if not, they might go to hell, and I will go to Texas.” And he did.
