Check with Adorama, or B&H Photo.

I've never bought one, however, there have been many posts about people who have..and were very pleased. Be sure they are refurbished by the manufacturer. Often, they have never been used, or lightly used...they may have been display models for example...but can't be sold as new.

I bought my first reconditioned unit in years this Black Friday at Canon.com. An upscale point-n-shoot for my sister's Christmas present. Got it, and I'd get an error message when I tried to turn it on. After 3 conversations with the Canon tech folks, they agreed that the camera was defective and to send it back. I am STILL waiting for either a replacement or credit.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Nikon Refurbished camera. Google "Nikon refurbished".

Everyone I've heard from so far really likes refurbs. You should be able to get the directly off the manufacturers website. At least I know you can with Nikon. I have also seen them on B&H's website. The refurbs are looked over and inspected to make sure everything functions properly and then cleaned to if needed.(At least they are as far as we know.) Many say they are better than brand new because they are inspected so closely. I haven't had one myself, but have seriously considered purchasing one here lately.

The manufacturer websites often have them too. For example:
Canon http://shop.usa.canon.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/subCategory_10051_10051_-1_29252
Nikon http://shop.nikonusa.com/store/nikonusa/en_US/list/ThemeID.18145600/categoryID.43896500
Sony http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCatalog?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&N=4294961698&searchType=outlet

I buy refurb when possible and only when its been refurbished by the original manufacturer. For me the advantage is that the one I'm buying has been inspected and adjusted as needed. In new production quality assurance is done randomly and a camera with a bug or two can slip by.

I've purchased camera bodies, flash, and lenses as refurbs through b&h photo. I haved saved hundreds and and have had no issues.

There is nothing wrong with refurbished items. The problem is how it is done and inspected andtest thoroughly. I recondition appliances and have no problem with
doing it, if done properly and and on select makes and model. Cleaning and shining one, does not make refurbished and that is what some fly by nights do. Just know who your are dealing with what criteria they use

I buy a lot of refurb audio/video gear. No problems.
Make sure the dealer is a manufacturer's authorized seller. They are listed at the manufacturer's website.

Several. Very good deal. Of course, that's not going to work with a very new model.
