Wow! That’s amazing. I figured that there must be others out there. Hearing that yours is in the same condition comforts me a bit in that it was nothing I did, but the life of the materials they used to make it. Trying to figure out how to repair it. Still thinking.
Wondering if I can still use the triple bayonet mount base in something else, but also less important now that I’ve gone mirrorless. Although I do have dozens of F mount lenses, I do have two FTZ adaptors. Guess I need one more. Haha.

I did find in mine, my old Nikon FE in it.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comment as well. Best I have heard from my friend is his friend's father had everything in the bag and put it either in a cellar or the attic where it sat for years as the finish material on the bag deteriorated while the camera and lenses were just fine inside. I have also thought of either putting another material on the outside or mounting the F mount lens board in something else. What stops me is the extreme weight of the bag. It would still weigh more than I want to carry. I will probably just hang on to it.

Robert, a great find in your collection of treasures along with the memories it brings to you.

Thanks Gary! Was one of things I refused to throw out. Keeping that one. It survived another clean out.

Loved Concorde. Flew it many times. Never got boring and met some pretty incredible people on it. Sat next to Goldie Hawn, Sydney Pollack, Terence Stamp, and Maureen McGovern. My father became good friends with Luciano Pavarotti although I was not on that flight.

Interesting fact, due to friction on the exterior, even though it flew at 60,000', the plane stretched and shrank 9" per flight. Could be visibly seen on the interior of the plane, in the galley where the countertop was tight up against the wall while on the ground, a gap developed wide enough to fit your hand during flight. Fascinating engineering feat.

We also auctioned off all of the Concorde parts and memorabilia for BA when Concorde finally shut down.

Really miss that plane.

Robert ... Did you ever fly an Air France Concorde, and if so, do you recall if this steel and plastic flatware designed by Nathalie George was used during dinner service?

I never flew Air France Concorde. Kind of avoided Air France as a general rule because I heard a story of the flight attendants taking wine and drinks into the clock pit. Never really confirmed that but the person who told me that, was somewhat of a reliable source.

We have a collection of Atkins Sheffield coffee spoons, Royal Dalton crystal shot glasses and the small salt and pepper shakers which we somehow ended up with after each flight. Wonder how that happened???

Too bad no one seems to make a case this style any longer with bayonet mountings to hold lenses, etc. Many years ago Leica used to have a similar case to your old Nikon one. Today if you could find one in usable condition it would probably sell for a high price as a collector item

Yes, I have the old Leica case. Used to be referred to as the Doctors Bag I sort of remember. Im going to Google it after I finish this 'post' as mine is in mint condition. It was given to me as a gift about 55 years ago.

There's a photo of it here https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-131231-1.html from July 2013. How time flies!

That's a gret case for shooting street photography in a dangerous neighborhood. You just dress down and nobody will bother you to attempt to steal your gear. Just make sure that any of that simulated leather stuff doesn't chip off and get into your equipment.

My old cases are still in good cosmetic shape but my skin is beginning to look like that case! I better get some moisturizer!

Fine quality case no longer available to today in it true vintage form.
That case is a classic, just like you!!

You're lucky you weren't on the one that burned and crashed. That was the death knell for Concorde.

That was Air France. Never flew that one. The real reason Concorde shut down was it was a very expensive plane to build and maintain. It took decades for both BA and Air France to get their money back.

The plane had a relative live short life span as the stress the plane went through each flight was tremendous. For example, it expanded and contracted 9” per flight due to air friction. That does not sound like a lot, but it really is.

The cost to replace the planes was astronomical and since it took decades for the original airlines to recoup their investment, made no sense to replace them. There were only 100 seats per plane, so the price per ticket was pretty high. I paid about $15,000 per round trip back in the 1990’s.

Great idea and very sexy plane, too expensive to build compared to how much they could charge for a ticket.

The Concorde was a magnificent plane but it had some drawbacks. It was expensive to operate and maintain. Repairing the fuselage, and hydraulics was cumbersome. The plane suffered a great deal of stress to the hull from air friction.
But you can get a gander of one at the USS Intrepid in New York.
