Looks more like a Ferruginous Hawk. You can tell by how far the mouth extends under the eye.

The bill looks too heavy for Ferruginous and the belly band is typical for Red-tails.

Yea I think you’re right. Also, ferrugies have a yellow sere at the base of the beak and this one doesn’t

Nice shot but I also think its a red tailed Hawk. We have lots of eagles in the northwest, i included a few for comparison.

You guys might be right about that being a hawk. I assumed it was an eagle because on several different occasions in January there were sometimes two and sometimes three eagles flying overhead. One time a mature bald eagle and then an immature one we’re setting in the tree above my shop.
