Any old timers remember having one of these or any pedal car for that matter? Here's a shot of my Dad and I when I was four in 1952, when my folks bought me this "brand new" Murray Station wagon..."two passenger" version:-) I ran across one at one of the Hershey car shows back in the 80s and the vendor wouldn't budge from his asking price of $650, so I walked away. When I returned a half hour later to buy it for $650, he had already sold it. Long story short, this beautifully restored version just sold last week on an online auction for $2552. It was called the "Sad Face" because of the grille.
Great! Had one tooπ
Thanks for sharing
I was also eight in 1952, and I had a car like that, but a sedan. It was the same color, too.
Awesome. I had a pedal car, too. Not that one, though. It was shared with my brothers.

In 1955 (I was 5) I had one and would drive around the block by my self. Well it squeaked really loud π. Well after the second trip around a man called me over to his house and he oiled it up and stopped that awful squeaking. Such a different time of trust and freedom

Great memories of my early '50s Murray Fire Truck.

I had a standard car version and I would enjoy having it today although I doubt I could fit in it. With rising fuel prices, I would not be surprised if we all end up driving peddle cars.
Great old images and story.
