I hear you! This has happened everywhere and they keep asking the same questions over and over.

I complete a request for the online pre-check questionnaire before my appointments. Then when I arrive, they ask me the same list of questions again. ???

Getting worse all the time. I’ve had issues with them making me sign documents on a small device without being able to see or read what I’m signing. They offer an unsigned copy to take home but by then it’s too late to make any changes. I’ve objected and even explained why. Some will provide a paper copy to sign, which is best. Others allow you to look at the documents before you sign but you still don’t know if that is actually what you are agreeing to. One office said if I didn’t sign I needed to go home.

After the conglomerate absorbed my doctor's practice I must go through a switchboard in another city to talk to the office---no direct number. It's usually five minutes before I can talk to them directly.

The forms include your consent to be treated. Without that, they will not treat you as they cannot prove that you gave them your permission. In today's world, the fact that you showed up and went along with treatment is not equal to you giving them legal consent.

The other forms are required by government: proof that you were told your rights as a patient, proof that you were told about billing, proof that you were told about HIPAA (patient privacy) rules, proof that a you gave permission to release your personal health information to your medical insurance company, proof of this and proof of that.

Now that offices are required to have electronic records, it is easier to show you a paper form but have you sign a small screen device. You have to trust that you are signing what they show you on paper.

Yes it's getting worse all the time.

Now it's even worse in CT, they even use a third party called "My Chart Plus" (from CT official they said) to monitor/ manage everybody's medical matter, including your doctor's appointment: test result; your health data etc....Every one of your different doctors is under their managing. I can't get my confirmation call from my doctor's office anymore like before, instead this "My chart Plus" will email me to do the confirmation and ask me to "e-check-in'. I opened this My Chart Plus account in 2020 only for the Covid-19 vaccination, now I could not cancel/close the account, that hooks me with them forever. The only way I can do to avoid the on line check-in is to call the doctor's office at least a week before to try my confirmation if I can go thought the phone line to reach a real human being to talk , not a robot. Now when we get sick we are not even suffering physically, we suffer from mentally from all these unnecessary stress. I am moving soon some time this year back to N Y State (I moved to CT from NY 10 years ago) I don't know NY will do the same!

I'm going for a blood test on Monday, a week before my annual physical. I received an email letting me pre-check-in. I had done this before, and it was no big deal. This was a big deal!

It took me at least fifteen minutes, including copying both sides of my two insurance cards and driver's license. So many questions! If they want me to do this before my physical next week, I'm going to decline. What used to be a family practice changed after the founding doctor retired. It has been "absorbed" by two or three large medical conglomerates, and everything has become more institutional. Too bad.

I'm supposed to arrive fifteen minutes before my appointment. It's almost insulting that they pre-add waiting time to my visit. 😂

The information is for the purpose of finding you should you skip payment.

There was a period that doctors had their patients fill out surveys. Most of them went to vendors for the purpose of working up trends et al.

I refused to fill them out. When asked why, I just stated that the information is not related to my issue and reason to see my doctor. Had no problems with that.

But the process used now is for the purpose of being able to find one should "there be a problem with payment."

Yes, I am sick of this practice. Their time is money. Our time is trash.

I once took public transportation to an MD appointment in the next town. $36. 00 in transportation fees. 2.5 hours later still had not seen the MD. His office staff kept telling me "your next." At that point it was leave to get the last bus of the day or be stuck there. I made a scene and the MD came out asking what the problem is. He was more concerned about me not waiting longer to see him than he was about me as a patient. Unfortunately this seems to be 'normal' now in doctors offices.

OMG... this is straight out of the Twilight Zone Jerry. I swear to you not more than 1/2 hour ago I received the same email from my doctor for an upcoming physical this Tuesday. I started filling in the info and quickly realized it would take quite awhile to finish. So I shut it down and will wait until I get there to provide the information. The real joke here is they claim "pre-registering" will save me time at the appointment. I'll be waiting in that office for 15-30 minutes no matter what time I arrive.

Waited two hours in the waiting room, was finally ushered back to the exam room. Then after almost an hour in there I got up and was leaving when the doctor caught me leaving, and asked what was wrong. I told him and he said well lets just check your vitals right here. I told him nope. I don't have the time, and that I would think about rescheduling (yearly checkup). I called a few days later and rescheduled. When I arrived that time, he took me right in almost before I sat down in the waiting room. This doctor usually scheduled me last in the day and we would sit and talk and have coffee after the exam. I think he knew I was not happy.

Your comments make me appreciate the VA. I have regular appointments. They ask you to arrive 15 minutes early. And I have never had to wait beyond that. A couple of times after seeing my primary care physician I was sent to directly to other care providers and got right in. Things like a podiatrist, nutritionists, x-rays even an MRI. The VA has been very good to me.

Me as well.

I once confronted my doctor about excessive (2 Hour) wait times.

I told him that my time is just as valuable as his and it is insulting and inappropriate to keep me waiting when they could have called me and explained that the doctor is running two hours late.

That would have allowed me to use that time productively.

He actually listened and agreed with me. He instituted that practice.

I"ve thought the same thing about messaging you and letting you know they are running behind. I wait only 30 minutes then I leave I figure then they will be only 1' 30" late. If four people would leave they would be back on schedule.
