The statue and the bat shelter.
Thank you. I visited it as part of a church pilgramage to a local retreat site. I'd never seen a Bat Shelter before--I thought they slept in caves.

Thanks for these images. Several years ago, I read about a study that had been done about the cost of work done by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the return on that money over the years. It was estimated that the money spent for projects built by the CCC had been returned in value several times over the original cost. And this does not even included the benefit in having work for young men (mostly) when jobs were scarce with the opportunity to learn skills and to send part of their paychecks home to help their families.

Devil’s Den State Park
In October of 2010 I made a short visit to the Devil’s Den State Park near Fayetteville, Arkansas. It’s an interesting place, built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), and contains a number of nice rock structures. There are several hiking trails, but I’m not s hiker and didn’t do them. My dad lived in Arkansas and worked in the CCC in the 1930s – I’ve wondered if he was on the build crew here.
And now a few pictures.

Rodeoman, thanks for the excellent comment. You're welcome, I like to share. I know my dad was a CCC worker prior to his marriage, but I don't know what projects he worked on.

Bubalola, thank you for the approbation!
