Longwood Gardens is one of the premier gardens in the US. They have a gigantic arboretum with rooms that support varied climates such as the orchid room and the desert room filled with a large variety of cacti. A few years ago they put in an outside fountain complex that is said to rival the best Europe has. This huge building was once owned by one of the DuPont family. He built this to house fruit trees so his family could enjoy fresh fruit throughout the year. It is now a showplace open to the public. I encourage you to look it up to really appreciate the scale of this place.
Each year they bring in a special flower from someplace like Nepal or Sri Lanka. This blue poppy grows in only a small region above 7000 ft. They are now cultivating them in the gardens so there is no need to import them now. They bring them out in March each year. To me, it is the most beautiful blue I've seen. I don't know if any other garden in the US imports them about this time of year but if they do, I encourage you to go see this flower in person.
