From what I've seen online, Win11 has no "must-have" features that would push you into it. Eventually, MS might do the pushing.

Thank you.

There is a vast difference between buying a computer with 11 already installed, and going to 11 from 10 (or 8 and below). Quite often, programs which will still work properly (according to Microsoft) don't. You sometimes have to go to the trouble of a fresh install of many programs. And that also is not easy, since a great number of them allow 1 install only, and you have a lot of hassle getting help from the providers with the reinstall. To each his own, but I myself (after trying it once) would not install a later version over a previous one. Good luck with whatever you do.

Two "ten" machines, one 11. <shrug> I like the 11 rig in contrast, of course there are operational differences, but to me they are minor. Very stable...

Thank you.

Thank you. This will be a new computer. I'm weighing whether to opt for 10 or 11. I should have made myself more clear.

use this youtube video and it will show you how to make changes in the registry to allow you to put the taskbar on the top of the screen. As a computer tech it doesn't scare me to go into the registry . It's a easy video to follow .Tommy

In an update to W11 earlier this year Microsoft killed the ability to make this change to the registry. I just tried it again, since there was an update this week, but alas, it still does not work.

Are you saying regedit doesn't work, or you can't make changes in it?

I have 10 on one laptop, and 11 on the new one I got in December. I use "Photos" a lot, and 11 Photos does not have "Clarity" and "Spot Fix", both of which I use a lot. I keep getting pushy prompts on the older computer to "Upgrade to 11", but never do, as, at least in "Photos", it is a downgrade.

Yes. I miss the Clarity & Spot Fix on W11. I will have to try on my Acer still running W-10 [Dosn't Qualifiy for W-11]

So far I have been unable to get the file window to default to the file tree. Each time I want to access a file from another program, I have to select:
C drive
Users
my name
documents
my documents
subfolder
the file I want
7 steps to access a file to open.
I don't know if I can get back to Win 10. I am not a techie.

Open Windows File Explorer and select a drive or folder.
To the right of View on the toolbar, select the ellipsis (...)
Choose Options
On the General Tab Across from Open File Explorer to: select This PC. Select Apply
On the View Tab make whatever selections you wish. Select Apply
Close Folder Options and the explorer window. When reopened it should show all drives.
