Awesome photo work Linda and it sounds like you are more into editing photo's than taking pictures. I've been taking pictures since 1975 and never really got into it all that much. Editing on the other hand suits me. My real hobbies are Woodworking, Billiards and Computing. Photo editing fits the computing bug. I'm not great at it, but the challenge to get great at it is the impetus for most of my photography.

The past few years most of my pictures come from my daughter or son, and I edit the heck out of their cell phone pics, mostly of my grandaughter or their pets. Haven't gotten much the past few months so I've been scrounging around in my archives for stuff to edit. Occasionally a very so-so picture can surprise me and turns into something I can really enjoy. That gives me the most satisfaction. The following pic I took years ago and recently re-visited looking for something to edit.. The original and the background are under it. I didn't spend a lot of time on it because I didn't think it would work that well. I was surprised when it looked great on my 55" HD TV. I may (not likely) re-visit it again to fix some issues.

At any rate, I'm happy to see folks taking a normal photo, and producing something delightful not SOOC so to say. Both yours and Wallens work is wonderful.

Thanks for your lovely comments! Your kitty is gorgeous.

I've been hooked on playful editing for quite a few years, but as another respondent mentioned, my tastes (interests) have changed somewhat. And there is always something new and fun to learn!

Thanks to Wallen for this thread!

What makes you revisit and play with you old photos?
I believe most photographers revisit to reminisce instead of intentions to edit.

As for me, I usually have a few image always bugging the back of my head and though they seldom get to be retouched, some do get the whole shebang.

Today I got to scratch one of the itches and came up with the below.
But it started another itch LOL, I might paint this one day.
I think it might look good in acrylic.

Sometimes it's just wanderlust... restless curiosity, playfulness, yearning for learning, and who knows what else. I can't explain it. Other times it's because I'm digitizing old film and I come across interesting moments from decades ago.

Very nice. Do it all the time. Most of my favorite images have more than one version.

Editing aids have improved and I have learned more about photography. The nostalgia is a bonus.

Ditto. And, my photos of family, travel, and a few other keywords play as our screensavers, bringing back people and events starting from before we were born, 79 years ago, to the present.

Looking at old photos is like taking the journey all over again.

I have many from an old hard drive and I have sorted some to their categories on my Photo-Drive ... some I look and say: Did I take that? When?

Your treatment is very creative. It would be interesting to see your starting image. I find, as many have already said, that i do re-editing because me skills have improved and my tastes have changed. I still keep all the other edits and find it interesting to compare.
