I like the fact that I see plenty of details in your snow pictures. I am used to see images here in which the snow appears washed out due to overexposure.

Thanks! Snow is a hard one, I do always expose to the right just a little when photographing snow...with the D500 it seems to work perfect and we seem to always have a bunch of that white stuff

Nice set of snow shots, Cindy. Number four is my favorite.

Thanks! I like the perspective low to the ground on that one.

Beautiful, Cindy. It's hard to believe how green things are down here and how white it still is up there.

Thanks Ken. It's been a long winter up here and I am so ready for spring. But we have a few more weeks of this white stuff coming down before we start warming up.

Been there several times but never in the winter.

Lovely pictures!

You need to check it out in winter...way less people and it's beautiful in a different way than in the summer months.

Thanks Doug! I love that area as well. Hubby was the one that maintained the North Fork Road for over 25 years. There isn't much of that area that I haven't either rode my horse, hiked, snowshoe'd or snowmobiled in.

We traveled as far as Bowman Lake on that road. I thought about going on up to the border, but didn't... Two reasons: #1 Did not know much (next to nothing) about that section of road, Just that it went to the border. #2 My wife dislikes my jaunts down less traveled, or dirt roads to unknown destinations. She was born on an Ozark mountain top, down a dirt road, 20 miles from nearest town. Then raised along dirt roads, lol. We live 10 miles from town, on part of what used to be the farm my father raised cattle on. We still love the country, but it is starting to slowly(?) get somewhat suburban.

Most visitors turn in at Polebridge and go to Bowman or Kintla lake. You missed some pretty country by not going further. The county is trying to get a grant to pave the North Fork Road to the Camas entrance to Glacier, it's been crazy busy up there for the last few years and the road just isn't setup for this type of traffic. We used to head up there and if you saw 2 other vehicles it was a miracle but now....they did traffic counts last summer and over 1000 vehicles per day are traveling that road...it just sucks!

Glacier Park went to a ticket reservation system now since it's been so very busy. You have to purchase the normal park pass and get a car reservation ticket as well. The car tickets sell out for the month in minutes! I never go into the park in the summer, just go in the winter.

Our town just fought hard to have 2 large subdivisions denied, one wanted to put 450 units on 12 acres, the other wanted a mixture of apartments, condo's and single family homes on 50 acres but the cost of a single bedroom apartment would start at 1800.00 ... no one in this town can afford that! Both are out of state developers that have no clue what this town is about. Well, I guess they found out that they are not wanted...lol

Took advantage of the unusual sunshiny day! We haven't had on in a long time, it was even kinda on the warm side at about 30F. Took a drive up the North Fork road, which is on the outskirts of Columbia Falls MT and leads from town to the Canadian border. It runs along Glacier National Park, the middle of the North Fork river is the boundary for the park.
