I have been going thru files and cleaning up. Came across these that I forgot I had taken plus since I am better at processing now than I was a few yrs ago...I redid the processing on them.
The people that we went with into the Spanish Peaks were the Clark family out of Cameron. We started the trip at the trailhead on Jack Creek and rode up and over the range and down into the Upper Falls Creek area. From there we rode as far south as the Spanish Lakes and north almost to the Cherry Creek drainage area. For a 10-year it was a unbelievable experience. Fishing was as easy as tossing out anything with a hook with an egg on it. 14 years later my brother came back to Bozeman so we could backpack into the same area from the trailhead off Cherry Creek. We had a wonderful experience of watching a sow grizzly and her two cubs from across a meadow maybe 100 yards wide. What beautiful animals. She knew we were there and correctly sensed that we were not a threat but hurried her cubs up and over the hill in no time at all. My brother wanted to follow so he could take some photos and I told him "no, that would not be a good idea". At that elevation it would have taken an hour to get to the top of the hill and she was doing what she could to protect her cubs. It were experiences like this that I pledged to live long enough to retire in Montana. I'll deal with the crowds as long as I can enjoy the many splendors this state has to offer.
