For the staff photographers and staff videographers at the World's Top News Services the answer is NONE.

They use either Sony mirrorless or Nikon mirrorless for all the staff photographers and staff videographers worldwide. And not for any special deals. Canon mirrorless also had similar bids for these contracts. But these news services preferred Sony mirrorless and Nikon mirrorless over Canon mirrorless. Read in their own words why they chose Sony and Nikon mirrorless in the links below.

Using Sony exclusively, Associated Press, UK Press, Canadian Press, all Gannett media outlets including USA Today:

Nikon 18% sales vs Canon over 40% sales.
And Sony a little over 20% sales.
Guess the world has spoken.

Pretty amazing, 32mp equivalent to 80mp FF.
IBIS for my R, FL and FD lenses with focus peaking.

Be happy with your Canon R7, enjoy and make all your great shots.

But the facts and the reality of the physics are your Canon R7's 32.5 (effective) megapixel APS-C sensor is in NO way ever going to be equivalent to the resolution, detail, IQ, high ISO/low noise, and shallow Depth of field of any Fullframe 80mp sensor (which is not even on the market). Even in any pixel-shift mode.

The current facts are that Canon is working on a 100mp fullframe sensor, and Sony is working on a 102mp fullframe sensor. Right now for fullframe the Sony A7RIV, A7RIVa and A7RV have the highest megapixel fullframe sensors of 61mp, and in pixel-shift mode can create a 244mp image. Other brands in different format sizes, including Canon, also offer some models with similar pixel-shift capabilities.

Fuji has even larger medium format size 50mp and 100mp sensor mirrorless cameras, with these sensors all made by Sony.

Cheers and best to you. Nothing wrong with loving your Canon gear, but lets stick to the facts here, ok.

This thread is about mirrorless. If you did better research you would know that over half of Canon sales are in DSLRs . Even Tony Northrup mentioned that exact fact in a recent video where he talked about how each brand was doing, check that out. I have never denied Canon's overall sales leadership when you add all categories.

As far as mirrorless is concerned, CIPA numbers and most reviewers agree Sony leads in worldwide mirrorless sales over Canon, always has and still does. But Canon fanboys never separate the categories, LOL.

Here are the top ten selling cameras for the last two weeks of December 2022 at Yodobashi, the largest chain of camera stores in Japan. And these numbers were reported by pro-Canon youtuber "Ordinary Filmmaker": this is a window into what cameras are hot now and trending in Japan.

1) Sony A7IV
2) Sony A7RV
3) Sony FX3
4) Nikon Z9
5) Sony A7C kit
6) Nikon Z50 kit
7) Sony A7IV kit
8) Sony ZV-E10
9) Fuji X-T4
10) Fuji X-S10

Cheers and best to you. And remember pros aren't buying the mass-marketed middle-range and lower-range cameras, they want the very best of the best for their critical work. Pros want and need the performance of the Porsches of the camera world, not the Chevrolets (save the Corvette, lol) . Hobbyist can buy still excellent but less expensive models with less top-end features and performance, and be completely satisfied for all their photo needs, no problem.

I posted the Yodobashi (Japan's largest chain of camera dealers) top ten sales cameras from the last two weeks of December 2022, showing which cameras were hot and trending.

And to be totally fair, here are Yodobashi's top sales cameras for the entire year of 2022. Some cameras did better in the beginning of 2022 and then dropped off a bit in sales as the year went on, others stayed strong in sales all year. These are their total 2022 yearly sales places in Japan. Japan is just one market, but it is the home to these brands.

1) Sony A7IV
2) Canon R5
3) Nikon Z9
4) Canon R6
5) Sony FX3
6) Sony A7SIII
7) Sony A7IV kit
8) Canon RP
9) Nikon ZFC
10) Canon R3
11) Sony A6400
12) OM System, OM-1
13) Nikon Z50 kit
14) Sony A7III
15) Sony ZV-E10
16) Canon R6
17) Canon R10
18) Sony A1
19) Canon R7
20) Sony A7III kit

Cheers and best to you all. I share facts that relate to the thread subject, not fanboyism.

Canon lovers, continue your love of Canon. I still will always have love for Canon after using them for over four decades and winning many awards with all my Canons shooting all subjects around the world from my Canon AE-1, and Canon A1 back in the 1970's ,through all my film and digital Canon's to my last Canon DSLR EOS 1DX MK II. And all my great Canon lenses over the decades. And nothing could top my 35mm film SLR Canon F1 back when it served me well under the harshest conditions in the jungles and mountains of Nicaragua when I covered the war between the Sandinistas and Contras.

I just have no need or desire for Canon mirrorless now. My complete Sony mirrorless system with over 200 native E-mount lenses to choose from Sony and Third-party lens makers are all I need and has proven itself in real-world use with all subjects. And loads of other pros and hobbyists alike agree. I know Canon will do just fine with their mirrorless gear, I have no doubt.

Cheers and best to you all whatever gear you favor.

I'm quite happy with my R5 and R7. I still use my D850 and 5D mk 4 occasionally and a few of my other DSLR'S, but my R5 and R7 are my go-to cameras.

Sad and bitter attitude.
Many including myself are glad that mirrorless in the last couple of years has moved from experimental to fully functional cameras.
It has opened a whole new world of capabilities that I and others have been looking for. New explorations etc.
Stay where you are, fine.

NOT at all sad nor bitter! Instead, I am quite happy with the Canon gear I own. I am also quite happy to drive ICE and have no interest in owning a battery wagon. You world, your choice.

My 24mp APS-C Sony A6500 was fine, made some award winning shots with it at 11fps with perfect AF, but sold all my Sony APS-C gear to help get more fullframe Sony gear a few years ago. You will have to find something else of mine to attack. LOL

And again a fact check, Sony's latest APS-C A6400 and A6600 have much of the same superb AF systems with Eye AF, dynamic tracking, etc. in stills and video, as in the best of the fullframe Sony's. Do better research Architect.

From SLR Lounge: "Thankfully, the A6600 delivers autofocus performance that rivals its full-frame siblings, too."

Cheers and best to you.

I made award winning shots with a 10D. Also before that with a FTb.
So what's your point?
The a6500 is extremely slow and AF is slow as well?

You have to do better than attacking an A6500 camera that was introduced six and a half years ago in October 2016 ,and has been surpassed by newer Sony APS-C models, and a camera that I no longer even own anymore. LOL

Canon didn't even have ANY mirrorless camera that could compete with the Sony A6500 back in 2016. The Canon EOS M5 introduced in December 2016, could do only 7fps vs the 11fps of the Sony A6500, and the M5 could only do 1080p video vs 4k 30p video of the A6500. And the Canon M5 had a very limited lens choices vs dozens of E-mount lenses from Sony and third-party makers.

The Canon M5 had 49 focus points vs 425 focus points in the Sony A6500.
From New Atlas: "The Sony A6500 features a super speedy autofocus system with 425 points, and can rattle off up to 11 frames per second"

The Canon M5 had no IBIS vs the five-axis, five-stop IBIS in the Sony A6500.
Again Architect, do better research.

So "what is your point" LOL . You are running out of Sony things to attack, LOL

Cheers and best to you. It is ok to be a diehard Canon fanboy, but if you want to compare six year old APS-C mirrorless cameras, Canon M5 loses to both the Sony A6500 and the Fuji XT-2.

Cheers and best to you.

Still sticking with Sony...for now.
If I had to choose today...Fuji...I like options...they have it.

6 months ago...I'd have said Canon...but the way they treat their customers by closing off lens choices...no thanks.

It's an attitude I refuse to invest in.
