it seems he did that (per results in 1st post) and altho the OEMs fared better they didnt deliver all that much either.

Wonder what the OEMs were delivering before the repair ? Also, are ALL user preferences back to pre-repair settings ? Frinstintz, wifi is a battery muncher if its enabled, even if its never actually used.

Yep. But as an optimist, I was just hoping that we could bring the problem back to the battery rather than the camera.

Acoarst. But questioning user settings is even *more* optimistic ... with any luck, nothing costing $$ need be defective :-)

Unfortunately I never bothered to quantify battery use prior to the repair. I suppose it would be good to make a point to do that with any new camera or battery. Easy enough to do. My impression is it was better before the repair. I have taken this camera on many domestic trips, and shot a lot, hundreds per day, and rarely used up a fully charged battery in one day. But these batteries are getting older thus the new Wasabi.

Re settings good point to check wireless, thank you. Indeed it is disabled. And I have not been using it. As for settings I double checked they are the same as I use in the states and before the repair. With one exception, I am shooting raw only, in the states I often shoot jpeg only. I'm going to cut down on chimping and re-measure battery life. I will advise results in a few days.

You guys made me think. Was it completely restored to custom settings after the repair? So I checked again. Auto eye detect was disabled. I’m pretty sure it was enabled before the repair. It is turned off on my Nikon because it does not work but it worked ok on the Olympus. So I enabled it. Will report results in a few days.

I had an original BLN1 Oly battery swell inside my Pen-F. Olympus replaced it. It was difficult to remove from the camera. So it’s not just 3rd party batteries that can do this.

I bought a new battery for my trip because my 2 surviving Olympus batteries are 3-4 years old. Olympus batteries $50 Wassabi battery was much less so why not try it?

So it seemed like it wasn’t giving me much life so I checked the number of shots. Shooting raw format (no jpegs), full manual. I use the EVF not the viewfinder, for composing.

All the batteries were charged to max using the Olympus charger. Note I checked the Wasabi twice:
Olympus1 134
Olympus3 126
Wasabi 37
Wasabi 71

Not the result I was expecting.

The OM-D was recently repaired, and it does get warm when shooting. I'm wondering if it has excess drain on the batteries. Other OM-D users, what is your experience with number of shots per charge? Note Nikon, Sony, Canon, others, I don't care what they are, I'm interested I OM-D users experience, not other brands/models.

I have been using A Wasabi BTR-FZ100-WP for about 3 years or so. It cost less than 1/2 Sony's version. At this point it still charges to 100%, I don't count accuations, just switch them out when they reach 30-20%.

I also use a DSTE battery that may be even older and similarly, it works fine. In addition, I also have three Sony original batteries of varying age, one won't charge to 100& but still works as well as the others. I rotate all five.

Never had an issue other than the anoying warning from Sony. For me it's been money well spent and I would buy then again.

I don't doubt that there are cheap ripoffs available and parrt to part variation, but my experience has been good.

I am not brand loyal and look for value in most things I purchase based on diligent research.

Name brand camera manufacturers no not manufacture batteries. Why would they when there are companies that specialize in this. A specific brand is just a label and no garranty of quality.

Why not use the Wasabi charger?
I had Wasabi battery swell and tough to remove so I ALWAYS buy OEM batteries. The few dollars are a minor expense c/w the cost if camera equipment.
Does ABES sell after market batteries?
Heard they have good prices

Mike, I've used Wasabi batteries for years, *rarely* a complaint. I bought one for my Z9 and it only charged to 93%...I sent 'em a note...got a new battery within a couple of days. No return asked for. I *like* my free 93% battery!

I don't know exactly what number of shots I'm getting with my OM-D E-M5 Mk II but it's more than what you're getting. And I don't see any appreciable difference between my Oly batteries and the Wasabi batteries. But what got my attention is that your camera is getting warm when shooting. Mine does not.

Hi JD. I see this topic from time to time, and some people swear by Wasabi batteries. I gave them a try for two different cameras. What I have seen since then is that the Wasabi batteries, with one exception, all have “died” whereas some of the original manufacturer batteries I had even before then, are still going strong. I bought the Wasabi ones to have change outs on trips, but from now on, I’ve been sticking with the manufacturers’ brands. I have noticed that every once in a while, Olympus runs a sale on accessories and I use that opportunity to buy what I need. Hope this helps.

All my Wasabi batteries puffed, none of the others. PowerExtra, OEM, Big Mike, all are ok. But the Wasabi were exclusively charged in the Wasabi charger, all others in the OEM charger....?
I blame it on the charger.
they wound set in the Wasabi charger for hours, never show full, take them out and put right back in the OEM charger and full in 10 seconds. Over charging will kill a battery.
Look in the book page 100, full time auto focus should be OFF. can't imagine what ON is for
Never felt the camera get warm
Phone people swear by the 80/20 rule and R/C guys say not to let batteries set discharged very long

I was photographing the great American eclipse with the Canon camera attached to a telescope and taking 3 hours of photos so I needed to change the batteries w/o moving the camera and during the practice runs the new Wasabi battery couldn't easily be removed due to it swelling. That was enough for me to use OEM

I stopped using Olympus cameras regularly when I stopped shooting film.
I started using Wasabi batteries about 8 years ago when I wanted back up batteries for long term cameras.
I do not keep battery records but many years of heavy shooting have given me strong opinions.
Wasabi batteries do not provide as many shots as other recognizable brands.
Wasabi batteries do not last as long (in years) as other recognizable brands.
Wasabi batteries should be charged in their own brand charger for maximum life span.
I have now disposed of three Wasabi batteries - no other brand has failed.
