Never understood the attraction of shooting ink into your skin.

Nice job photographing him.
I believe much of this “art work” is traced from templates, then traced with the inking needle. Someone correct me if I am incorrect.

True, or simply drawn onto the skin.
However... Try tracing a design say from a kids comic book onto a grapefruit, and then going over it again with a very fine point marker, and then coloring it. Chances are it wont look anything like a comic book pic. There's way more talent and practice than meets the eye. Akin to someone playing a musical instrument... they're only "copying" the notes, or a pitcher throwing a baseball... everyone can throw a ball "sorta" .... just try throwing it in exactally where you want it....every time.

Not my thing either. Old wrinkled tats are far worse than old faded photos. Never understood the appeal.
I've seen both free hand and stencils.
Best tattoo artwork I've seen. The monochromatic colors work well too.
This was one guys work I'll post others. I actually did a presentation called shock and awe at the Philly tattoo convention shocked at what I walked into cold I left in awe of their art..It is not for me but for them it is part of their sub culture and means to make a living. These were the most friendly open folks to
shoot.
To each his own, not my cup of tee, but I respect their art. A camera can be your ticket to events you would never find yourself.
