How-To on YouTube

I like watching how-to videos, but some of them on YouTube annoy me. They show someone working fast and not talking. He's taking apart, cutting, gluing, wiring, and soldering. When he's finished, he shows off - something. Why bother?

I realize that not everyone speaks English, but they could have English text on the screen. Many foreigners do that, and I know what's going on. These fast, silent videos seem to be getting more common, so I just switch them off.

Yes, probably like singing a song. They're showing what they can do more than giving directions for how to do it.

It beats the loud noise, music? soundtrack, or whatever you wanna call it, that overpowers the voices when someone is talking. They even put it in nature shows.

Yes! I can't understand why they think they need loud music.

I’m generally more annoyed by a video showing each screw being removed in real time. Takes 15 minutes to take off a pair of valve covers before even getting to the point of the vid.

My pet hate are those videos that declare that "it is a brilliant way to use scrap material" without mentioning what it actually is. If you make the mistake of starting the video you are treated to 10 minutes or more of something useless being made in the least imaginative way. Guaranteed to make you feel that your life is being stolen from you.

Obviuosly we are both annoyed by the same trend on DIY videos and the speed of presentation. I use Pause and the Back slide along with presentation speed adjustment often just to get the info that is buried by speed demons otherwise. Sometime I think that those people realy want to impress them selfs at how fast they can present the work.
The geeks are the worst offenders imho, showing you how to do certain shorcuts on cell phone, talking 90 milles and hour,
