Have you seen what's happening to the great Salt Lake in Utah? It's going away. As a result, arsenic and other undesirables are coming to the surface and blowing across inhabited areas. Like the Salton Sea before it, I doubt there is any way to save it.

Hopefully this winter will help the great Salt lake this year. Re the Salton sea, its a mess. I used to go down there to do some bird photography and the shore line was sufficiently close that you could get close to waking birds and white pelicans. The last time I was there the water was so far away, most bird photography was a waste. It used to the that unused water from the irrigation districts in the Imperial Valley went to the Salton Sea to at least provide a bit of water. But there was a deal made with San Diego to deliver that excess irrigation to the city (county) so that source for the Salton Sea is (or will soon) be gone. Another issue with the Salton Sea is that the military used it a a dumping ground in WWII, and, as the Sea dries up, all that stuff will be exposed. The rumor has it that there are a lot of toxics there. So, as the wind blows, downwind areas will be affected. Biggest target would be Phoenix. What a mess!

Take a look at Lake Mead. It is so low they are finding bodies in barrels that were never intended to be found.

Wait a minute. You do have electricity, right? Plumbing? Someone plows your roads? Buy groceries at the store instead of trying to grow your own?

Think about this for a minute. Humans ... they've made your life pretty easy!

I hope that this winter will bring much moisture to the Salt Lake valley.

We could have quite a debate about that. Let it suffice for me to say I respectfully disagree.

β€œ Increased water demand due to the growing number population of the metropolitan Salt Lake City is another reason behind the Great Salt Lake’s desertification. Utah is the fastest-growing state in the US and is projected to increase almost 50% by 2060”

Wow, this doesn't sound like the Jerry that we all know and love. Didn't sleep well last night?

No, this is me. I hate to hear about scientists looking for a new planet to inhabit. The human race should be allowed to die off like all the other species. Overall, people are horrible. "Life isn't fair." Of course not, mainly because people make it unfair. If people acted as they should, we could be living in paradise on earth.

That does not apply to me; I am nearly perfect. My only slightest weakness is I am beginning to be too humble.

You have to keep an eye on that humility thing. Too much of that will lead to the downfall of humanity!
