I though I was trying to be "polite to you" Grahame--Fiji--Smugmug.

But you are indeed a broken record. I don't use freeware viewers or filing programs. But I am assuming those work like what I do use---the line of ACDsee programs---Classic and their Pro2. I suggested that the technique of removal when compressing with any FREEWARE program might be the same. I left the google search for freeware to the originator or even to you smarty-pants. I merely mentioned the procedure which worked with my viewer. GOT THAT? I read and answered in a responsible way from my first response which I even termed: "This is shooting from the hip." I mapped out what worked, but was not freeware, although now over 20 years old, I bet you would not need to pay ADOBE prices like some love to fork over for ACDsee-Classic?

But what you mapped out and consider "worked" did not 'work' with respect to the Giff files mentioned in the Op's criteria. Simple as that.

If you had not started your normal childish behavior back on page 1 I'd of given you a clue far earlier. But it's fun seeing you learning your software

For what I hope is the final reply to your badgering-----IF YOU READ THE ORIGINAL POST----it said file types plus gif files. I was addressng the "all other files." This question was not about gif files except as an added type. I don't use animated giff files or 8bit low color files, and have no cameras which prepare "gif files."-----------So I originally tentatively gave my solution and then upon your badgering followed though and proved my method for both JPEGs and TIFF files in removing the Exif data---WHICH WAS THE ORIGINAL POSTER'S QUESTION. Poster--("--- I would prefer something that will handle a batch of files including GIFs. Thanks,")--------------WELL NOW---after your badgering, once again----I converted my test file with the Exif data to a gif file----AND YES ALL THE Exif WAS GONE----So--my "shoot from the hip" ORIGINAL POST---Upon reading the original question---proves to work when converting to JPEG, TIFF and GIF in my viewer. I used my ACDsee-Pro to test with a gif convertion though, since gif was not on the conversion list in Classic.------------------------EW

Good to see you have finally woken up, although somewhat slow. 'ACDsee-Pro' is not exactly freeware is it?

Tip, it always pays to read the question and try and give an answer appropriate to it.

Hi folks,
I'm still running windows 7 pro and would like to know where I can download some old freeware that will remove exif data from almost any kind of photo. I would prefer something that will handle a batch of files including GIFs. Thanks,
Ray :)

Four pages and counting. A quick Google search turned up this item: Free EXIF Eraser

You can download it directly or from cnet.com at https://download.cnet.com/Free-Exif-Eraser/3000-12511_4-75289373.html

Free EXIF Eraser is one "100% free" software, it is completely free for personal and non-commercial use, no adware and no spyware, you can use, copy, email, install and uninstall as you want. It runs on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit Editions. It is very small, needs no installation, one standalone program can do everything about deleteing your EXIF data from image files (if you want to uninstall, just delete the program file). it is portable software, and can run it directly from any USB device.

All of the bickering that started with this post has been a waste of time.

Duh!---------------if it works with a twenty year old "not-free" program, (ACDsee-Classic) there is a high probability changing compression in JPEGs might work with freeware viewers and file organizers, also.---Duh!-----------------------------ew

That’s about the most idiotic statement OldFool has made yet. There is absolutely no basis for that conjecture.

First off, I though your question was removing Exif from Tiff files. So---you want now----animated Giff files?----? I don't have cameras which make animated Giff files. Do you? Since Giffs were not in any still photo discussion, I simply though you were referring to Tiff files?

With your egging, once again an hour or so back I tried the compression and conversion from a Tiff file resulting from an Olympus Raw file. At 80%, the Tiff file of 35megabytes became a JPEG of 4.5O megabytes WITHOUT exif properties to exhibit. Again that conversion in ACDsee-Classic and Exif reading in ACDsee-Pro. SO MASTER---I am again at your service---is there any more proof YOU DESIRE. Or finally is this over----Graham-Smugmug-Fiji? (Just what do you desire being called? Are you Mr. Grahame on Figi? Or do you like Smugmug?----------------ew

Are you really that dense? (I ask even though I already know the answer). First off why are you assuming that Grahame was referring to anything when he’s not the one that asked the question? And why would you assume the OP was asking about TIFF’s when they were never mentioned and GIF’s were?

You never gave a good answer. So I guess it’s par for the course.

Closed topic? Where does it say it’s closed? If it was closed it wouldn’t allow me to post.

That would probably be you. You seem to suffer from insomnia.

The drivel came almost exclusively from you. Everyone else can see that you have a screw loose.
