My favorite uncle was a jeweler and watchmaker. If you brought him all the bits of a watch in a teacup when he opened you could come at closing and pick up your watch, re-assembled and keeping as close to perfect time as it was capable of maintaining. He also did hand engraving, one of only 3 jewelers in DFW who did so. For a few years he was also in charge of the instrument repair section for Braniff Airlines doing intricate repairs on those like he did with watches.
