Each winter about 30K Sandhill Cranes visit the Draw near McNeal, AZ. Went down there from Tucson on January 13, 2023, to have a look. sharing a few photos I took.

Each morning the majority of these birds leave the refuge to feed in the grain and grass fields surrounding the refuge area. They leave just after sunrise and return around noon. Their afternoon is spent along the shoreline and shallow areas. Then around an hour before sunset they again leave to feed for the night; returning just before full dark.

Alerted for a coyote in the area.

That's great. I once went to a Sandhill Crane migration rest stop here in Indiana, I need to do that again.

Haven't been there for a long time. I'm glad to see they're still there.

Careful! They are going to slide off the edge of the world in that last shot!
I've been to White Water Draw. It's not very well known, but definitely worth the stop.
Nice photos. I like the photo with the Cranes sitting back in their easy chairs picking a landing spot!
I've never seen Pintails out of the water, on dry land before!
