There are plenty of performers in the music and acting world who are as handsome and beautiful in their seniordom, as they were in their 30's. Perhaps Madonna was not trending that way and felt the need to resort to drastic cosmetic surgery in an obviously failed attempt to keep her youthful looks. There are numerous similar examples on the internet and I always wonder if these people fool themselves into believing they look better for it.
There are also many who fool themselves into thinking that their photos will look better with no color.

No, that’s real. They were talking about it right after the award show. My first thought was that she might be sick and on some sort of medication? Puffy faces become common to folks with organ replacement and medication is used to prevent organ rejection.
Yes, I've seen that in faces myself. I don't consider too many people really ugly, although I'm a hundred times better looking than most pictures of
me. Do ya ever get up in the morning, look in the mirror and think "That can't be right." Everyone else looks OK to good for the most part.
Madonna's picture here looked bad enough I thought it was fake. Turns out I was mistaken.

I love to hear her sing: "Don't cry for me Argentina"!!
Madonna can't hold a candle to Patty Lupone, the original Evita on Broadway back in '79 - '80 (though I believe she didn't much like the role even though she won her first Tony award for it).
Getting old and still trying to be 20.
There are probably a half-dozen or so Broadway singers, and more than a few rock singers these days, who would blow Madonna off the stage. And many of those pale in comparison with some of the great voices of the past (rock, legitimate stage and opera), and we have their records to remind us how good they really were.
I was fortunate enough to see Patty LuPone on stage in "Master Class", though she didn't do much singing in it, she can ACT!!
Hey, she didn't look THAT great when she was younger, and left little to your imagination.
It is interesting to me to see how important Modonna's appearance is to all you handsome old hogs who have commented on it.
For a moment I thought it was Drew Barrymore.
She responded to all the criticism about her face by complaining she "was caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny . . . A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 and feels the need to punish her if she continues to be strong-willed, hard-working, and adventurous."
Ahem, she is the one refusing to age gracefully. Then there are Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Rita Moreno, whose skin is pulled so tight I'm surprised they can show a facial expression at all. I'm not opposed to "having some work done" but someone in their 80s trying to look 30 is absurd! I applaud Sally Field and Lily Tomlin. They may have had plastic surgery, but a more graceful result.
If that was me I'd ask for my money back!
