I shudder to think what the kids will be like in another twenty years. Thank God I will not live to see it. I think we got the good end of the stick.

Unfortunately our grand-, and great grandkids will. I feel really sorry for them!

This was great and it's true. I am a 1940 kid and I am still kicking, and yes I got spanked when I did something wrong and I am thankful for that. Thanks for sharing.

I can tell you this, when I a punk kid in Jr. High school, back then it was 7th and 8th grades, the ONLY think that kept me in line was an ass paddling from the Principal or VP. And the teachers would paddle your ass right in front of the class or some would take you in the hall and do it. Some teachers would let you have it until you cried or shed a tear. THAT kept the class in order and mouthing mouths shut. GOD help them today please, I do not know how teachers can do it today with their hands tied but most of them are Woke raised and bread drones anyway so whattaya do you think we are doing. A great nation in decline and the world sees it too especially our enemies. 6 of my 7 grand kids are home schooled thank God.

I can remember the days when you got a whipping at school you got another one at home when your parents found out. Back in the day parents seemed to have close connections with teachers!

Unfortunately, with all we were given, we managed to trash the earth along the way. If you are one the people that think that climate change that is occurring now at a rate probably never before seen on this planet, good for you, I'm sure you sleep well at night. I don't know whether God or god exists, if you do, again, I am sure you sleep fine at night. But, if your God does exist, I doubt that what we have done over the course of the last 100 years, fits into his/her idea of what was he/she meant by the command to maintain "dominion over the animals" or what David meant when he said, “You made [mankind] rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet” (Psalm 8:6).

I happen to agree with you, we have been extremely fortunate to have lived during our time, but I worry in a big way what we are leaving behind, what our legacy will be for future generation, and most of us are doing nothing to rectify the situation.

Those born after 1955 have had 68 years to help fix the problems you mention. If they can quit playing video games get their collective noses out of their phones and their social media accounts, maybe they can help find solutions to these problems. Remember the "four aint's", ain't nothing as sure as change, ain't no security, ain't no justice, ain't nothing fair. Everything that happens usually falls into one of these. The earth has been going through changes for billions of years with or without humans, mostly without. The human race is along for the ride on the planet and we are not as important as we imagine that we are.

Born in 1945 and grew up in Wash. DC. Spent my summers roaming Rock Creek Park. Mom gave me 25 cents for a drink and off we went to explore the park. Deer, skunks, foxes, fish, chipmunks and oh so many birds. Lots of skinned knees and scrapes and a few cuts and bruises. Messing with the Park Rangers in so many ways but nothing mean. That was a great life cause we were free and allowed to roam. Spent two - three weeks on my aunt and uncles dairy farm and learned where milk and butter and cheese comes from and how much work it took to produce it.
All those people are gone now, the ones who taught me so many Wonderfull lessons about life. How hard it can be but how much how it brings as well. Those people meant the world to me, they taught me how to find my own way and how to work for what I want. May God bless them and may I always be respectfully gratefully appreciative for all they taught me and the freedom to grow up in this country.

How could I forget the "belt"? I've got to admit that fear of the "belt" kept me in line. It was used maybe a half dozen times and I really don't think it hurt my father more than it hurt me :-) I remember the first (and last) time I spanked my daughter. She looked so hurt and disappointed in me that I just couldn't do it again. She's 47 and turned out just great!

Born 1925 - 1955
The best years to be born in the history of Earth & we got to experience it all. Thank God for all the times, the adventures, wars won, technology developed. Generations after future generations will never experience what we did. What a generation we turned out to be.
To Those of Us Born
1925 - 1955:

At the end of this email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno.
If you don't read anything else, Please read what he said.
~~~~~~~~~
TO ALL THE
KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE
1930’s, 40’s and 50’s !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and/or drank - While they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then, after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs
Covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets,
and, when we rode our bikes,
we had baseball caps,
not helmets, on our heads.
As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And we weren't overweight.
WHY?
Because we were always outside playing...that's why!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day and, we were OKAY.
We would spend hours building
our go-carts out of scraps and
then ride them down the hill,
Only to find out that we forgot about brakes.
After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not Have
Play Stations, Nintendo
and X-boxes. There were
No video games,
No 150 channels on cable,
No video movies
Or DVDs,
No surround-sound or CDs,
No cell phones,
No personal computers,
No Internet and
No chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS
And we went
Outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut,
Broke bones and Lost teeth,
And there were
No lawsuits
From those accidents.
We would get
Spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles,
or just a bare hand,
And no one would call child services to report abuse.
We ate worms,
And mud pies
Made from dirt,
And
The worms did
Not live in us forever.
We were given
BB guns for our 10th birthdays,
22 rifles for our 12th, rode horses,
made up games with sticks and
tennis balls, and although we were
told it would happen - we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes
or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell,
or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts
And not everyone
made the team.
Those who didn't had to
learn to deal with disappointment.
Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent
bailing us out
if we broke the law
was unheard of ...
They actually sided with the law!
These generations have
produced some of the best risk-takers,
problem solvers, and
inventors ever.
The past 60 to 85 years
have seen an explosion
of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom,
failure, success and responsibility,
and we learned how to deal with it all.
If you are one of those born
between 1925 &1955, CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want
to share this with others who have had the luck to grow
up as kids before the lawyers and the government
regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
While you are at it,
forward this to your kids
so they will know
how brave and lucky
their parents were.
Kind of makes
you want to run through the house
with scissors, doesn't it ?
The quote of-the month
by Jay Leno:
"With hurricanes, tornadoes,
fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the
country from one end to another, and with the threat of coronavirus and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"
For those who
prefer to think that God is not
watching over us...
go ahead and delete this.
For the rest of us.. please pass this on.
Born 1925 - 1955 br The best y... (show quote)
Another good example of similar thinking: Red Skelton's explanation of the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, based on what his elementary school principal told his class.
We found the "infant on their back to sleep" useless, as our oldest at 2 weeks old would turn himself over to his stomach as soon as we put him to bed! But we did it anyway.
