Poignant image and poem pointing to a bleak future - near or far - that we all are heading towards .... Thanks John!

Thank you, Joe! My circle of old friends is rapidly contracting to a point.

Shot in Beausejour, Manitoba, late in the evening some 40+ years ago on Kodak Tri-X pan film and scanned. The elevators were demolished and the rail lines removed quite some time ago. There was a train station which was moved to a local heritage park a number of years before this photo was taken.

As I drove down to the station one evening,
The sun was just beginning to set.
Here the ravages of time were in evidence,
Leaving me with an image I would not soon forget.

Then the stationmaster called out to me,
Saying step closer and lend me your ear.
This station hasn't seen a passenger car
Now going nigh on thirteen years.

And there's talk of tearing up the tracks,
For the capital's all been spent.
The elevators all sit empty now
And abandoned elevators don't pay the rent.

Now the station's windows are all boarded up
And the passenger deck has crumbled.
The official timepiece stopped at 12 o'clock
And the benches inside lie tumbled.

The railway cars have long been removed;
The empty elevators all demolished but one.
The weeds have overgrown the ties,
Preventing the tracks from reflecting the sun.

So the sentinels I thought were permanently there
And the photogenic images I did find,
Will fade into the history books
And the recesses of my mind.
Shot in Beausejour, Manitoba, late in the evening ... (show quote)

Wonderful, Grey Owl! Your image and the poem beautifully compliment each other...
