Here’s my thoughts -

The bottom drawing has to be the original, and it has only 14 little guys. Making the two cuts and switching places with the top pieces seems to create a 15th leprechaun on the top right, but he’s missing his knees. All other bodies substitute nicely in their new places. The guy with the missing knees was top center and now is top right.

So, the real question is, doe he still count as he’s not quite all there?

First pic is when I was trying to find where everyone’s top half went. Second is apparent “15th” guy with no knees.
Here’s my thoughts - br br The bottom drawing has... (show quote)

But the guy in the red circle moved to the 7th in from the left. He didn't disappear.

I said “here’s my thoughts” - never said they were correct thoughts. 😁

Actually, all I was trying to point out was that the lower drawing seems to be the original as the top ones little guys look pretty hacked in spots. If so, then it becomes more a matter of where is the new 15th guy instead of which one disappeared. Oh, and I’d already identified where the circled kneeless guy came from. I only circled him to ask if he was a legimate #15 if he wasn’t a complete body.

Yeah, I know - I’m just confusing the issue. I’ll be interested in what the OP says is the answer.

You folks were close on some of your observations. Here's what's going on. In the transition from top to bottom, each Leprechaun in the bottom image is getting 1/15th larger than in the top image. If we were talking weigh, the 14 images in the bottom would weigh the same amount as the 15 images in the top. So the answer is that a little bit of every Leprechaun disappears to make the 14 Leprechauns in the bottom. No one Leprechaun disappears. Very clever drawing to make this happen.

Yes, most clever.

My head still hurts...
