I was asked to print pictures directly from a camera at a function so people could take the photos with them. Any recommendations. I use a Nikon D750.

Fujifilm instax mini 9 camera/printer or
Epson PictureMate PM-400…
…with the Epson printer use Nikon SnapBridge to have someone else do the printing while you take the photos…

Is there a way of plugging the camera directly into the printer as there are going to be many others using cameras , cell phones ,etc?

…my thinking was that you would have SnapBridge on your smartphone talking to your camera…as soon as you snap a shot it is sent to your phone…from your phone it can be uploaded to the printer…if someone is controlling your phone and printer, they can be doing the printing while you are taking the photos…or you can just pop out the SD card and put it in the printer…

Polaroid still makes cameras and Kodak has a neat looking instant print camera.

I use an older model Canon Selphy. Quite compact and easy to use. When I attend some weddings I would take photos and print using the Selphy. I would bring a photo book to insert the photos and give this to the bride and groom. Always leaves them speechless to have wedding photos that night.

If you’re thinking that different folks would print pictures from different cameras and cell phones, forget it. Not as simple as it sounds, and you’ll spend all night trying to get printing to work with different cameras/cell phones.

What they want to do is walk people in front of a background shoot the picture and then hand them the photo as it comes out of the printer

People have recreated the Photobooth in a rental/ service type of application .
Might not hurt to look into that workflow.

Look for event printers , They print from rolls that are packed as a kit and they feed together some print 5 x 7 and combos of wallets and 5x7 others 8 x10 . One person shoots another uses a Laptop and monitor for the customer to pick the images once chosen the images come out the printer . The ink roll and paper roll are a packed pair . We used them when I was was playing Santa Clause at a Mall . We used 2 printers to print wallets 5x7 ,4x6 ,and 8 x 10 . I have seen shoulder carried ones for events like moto cross .
