Mark, Vic’s is one of my favorites, along with Pete and Elda’s and the Squan Tavern. If you are a fan of thin crust pizza, it’s well worth the drive. I now live by Long Beach Island and occasionally make the 45 min drive up the parkway to Bradley Beach.
I used to live in Long Branch. I've had pizza from Pete & Elda's. Excellent. Many years ago, their was also "Mom's Kitchen" in Neptune. There was a good pizza restaurant in Long Branch too. I don't remember the name.

How about Federicci’s in Red Bank? One of Springsteen’s favorite hangouts. It was owned by the family of Danny Federicci from the E Street Band. Great pizza!
Friend mine carried a sub from the original "Jerry's" in Wheaton MD, on a motorcycle, to his brother's home in Huntington WV many years ago.

Can't get good pizza in TN. We always eat our fill when we're back in the Chicago area!
I'm with you. I went to college near Chicago and graduated in'73. While living in the dorm, four of us would chip in a buck each and order a cheese pizza from Barone's. Those cheese pizzas were so much better than anything we can find in Dallas.
Downtown, Gino's was where we'd go.

Ginos is excellent.
Rosati's has a place near Houston so maybe they'll branch out to Dallas. At least you're getting a Portillo's coming nearby!
Absolutely nothing like a good home owned family restaurant. Always worth the drive.

I'm sure it's terrific, but Vic's is my preference above all others. I have no need to find another.
Thanks for the suggestion and reply!

Grew up in South Bronx where there were some great pizza joints, moved to Canada where most pizza are from pizza chains, not so good.Found one in Toronto Danforth Pizza and bought pizza from him for 50 years then he up and dies.
I checked out the menu. The selections look wonderful, the prices reasonable, the surroundings unpretentiously comfortable. I can't speak to the service, but I bet when you visit, you feel welcomed and included. It sounds like my kind of place.
For me, it's a 2:45 ride, 155 miles. My local place is very good and about a mile away. I watched a video last night about the famous Fallingwater House in PA. Mapquest told me it was about seven hours away. Everything is too far. 😢
When I was a kid, we went to Lari's, run by Armando Lari. He made the pizza right in from of the customer. A small pie cost $1.00, and a large was $1.50.
What I wonder about is the consistency over time. How can they maintain the same taste over seventy-six years? I would think that ingredients and technique must change over time.

That happened here in Dallas. When we first moved here, the one excellent pizza was Campisi's. It was good until the old man who started the restaurant passed away and his family took over. While the ingredients appeared to be the same, the pizza just wasn't up to the old man's standards. Eventually we just stopped getting them.
Speaking of Italian restaurants, do any of you remember Mama Leone's in NYC? That place was amazing! It was huge, with large statues and elaborate decorations throughout. And strolling musicians! The last time we went, it had relocated to a tiny space, and it was like a school cafeteria. The only thing the same was the name.
The menu below is for sale for $45.
I have a couple of them upstairs, but I'm not selling.

are and always have been consistent!! I would not expect you to make the drive.
We move from NJ a bunch of years ago. The only thing I miss about NJ is the food, especially good Italian food.
