Grotesque! Up until I opened this post I used to love Chinese food. Ducks and Squids I believe plus other nasties.

The two hanging are cuttlefish. Have a large bone like in a mango. Often see the "bone: on the beach.

After delivering to restaurants for years I quickly discovered those to say away from. One that sticks in my mind was in Chinatown (Boston), you had to go down a set of stairs (bulkhead) and then duck down as you walked through the room where the chickens and ducks were hanging on hooks being prepared. No A/C and lots of flies and blood and guts to walk through. I often who they knew on the board of health to be able to get away with it.

I love Chinese, too. I stick with stuff that they at least claim are made with chicken. General Tso's Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken.

Everyone worries so much about restaurant sanitation - but despite some nasty conditions, food borne illnesses is very rare. Often, the nasty restaurants have some of the tastiest food.

I read restaurant review once that read "The food is excellent at ......., but do not inquire too closely about the kitchen" The food actually was excellent.

Kinda like sausage. Don't inquire too deeply about the circumstances!!

Restaurant sanitation has been an issue for many years. Read "Down and Out in Paris and London" by George Orwell, published in 1933. The nastiest restaurant today is head & shoulders above most 4 star Paris restaurants in 1930.
