You are correct about the lion. They did stop the tradition about 15 or so years ago. Not because of the danger, but the lions being killed. There is another Maasai tradition involving the circumcising of the boy around the age of 12. It was interesting hearing a Maasai tell the story. I’m sure you can find it if you Google it. I ask, so did you make your family proud and of course they said yes! My husband hates it when I tell the story….
I guess even that tradition is slowly going away and more are having it done in a hospital with pain meds…but not all!
P.S. my Maasai guide showed us his scar on his leg from a lion he was chasing away from his fathers cows.

Thanks for the information, I much appreciate it The part about circumcisions made me cringe though!

Again, top notch images here. The first is my favorite, but really hard to choose.

Incredible photography even including the staging of the kids. Tack sharp vulture, and I think he is a handsome bird.

Just have fun and try something new or practice with birds or something in the backyard! In 2019 I started wildlife and went to the zoo to practice and learn! Then watched videos and just winged it from there!!!
I’m not a purest in photography only taking photos in morning end evening light like many pros. But the morning or evening light does add something special. The photo below would not be nearly as interesting if it was taken mid day. Just have fun!

Magnificent!

A few more from the Amboseli Maasai. The kids were so shy. They were quite interested in the goat feast, but did not approach nor did I see them eat any. They were also quite interested in me taking their photo, but were shy about it.

Good series!
