I'm still using two tin cans connected to a string between them so I'm of no help with that problem.😜

If it works when hooked up to a wi-fi, like at home, but not when he’s away, then the cellular data feature isn’t activated. Check that as well as to see if for some reason it’s in airplane mode which will deactivate cellular data.

Is there a Verizon store nearby? Or call Verizon, wait "a while" for help.

Verizon through TracFone. I have the same plan.

Even a Verizon authorized dealer should have a technician who could help you with that. There is one in Wasilla.

In my Samsung Galaxy S20, I went to:
1. Gear icon
2. Settings
3. 1st option (at top). is connections (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane mode)

I turned on Wi-Fi; Wi-Fi Calling; Bluetooth; and left off Airplane mode

Under Mobile networks:
Mobile Data is turned "on" International Data Roaming is "OFF"

Under More connection settings:
Nearby device scanning is turned on
Private DNS is Automatic

Hope this helps!

I don’t think that will help the OP. He’s in Missouri.

My son needs Wi-Fi to go on the Web with his phone. I've never had that problem with any phone, but he's had that with his last two - Samsung and Motorola. I've looked at his phone, and I don't see a setting I can change to let his phone receive data. All he can do with his phone is make phone calls, but that seems like an odd complaint to make about a phone. 😊

Any ideas?

I had problems with my cell where you would lose connection in the middle of a conversation. I called Verizon and complained that we were a customer of 18 years and were thinking of changing to another service provider. They sent us a device that plugs into a wall outlet and must be connected to your router with a lan line. Well, it works and we haven't had a problem in over a month.

I have owned both Samsung (S20) and Motorola phones in the past and they had wifi as an option. My current phone (Pixel 7 Pro) automatically uses wifi when it is available. This makes me believe that the carrier is forcing its customers to use their data plan as opposed to wifi. So unless a customer has unlimited data the carrier is trying to maximize their profits by forcing the user to use more data than is included in their plan. This is not a hardware issue and is likely a modification made by the carrier to the Android OS. For what it's worth, my carrier is Google Fi and have been very satisfied with their service.
