Some areas have data caps. Beyond that, you pay the cable company more. If you have a streaming device connected to the TV, it keeps working even when the TV is turned off, and that uses you data. When I'm through with TV, the whole system gets powered down. There are power strips that will deactivate the entire strip when the main unit is turned off.
