Thanks for the info. I didn't know anything about a Shay engine until I rode this one. Very cool!

3 Truck Shay means that there is a driverod going from the front engine truck or front wheels to the gear assembly then from the gear assembly to the first truck of the tender then the last drive rod connects both tender wheel assembly to the Shays maindrive. In other words all the wheels on the locomotive trucks and tender truck are powered giving power to the locomotive and tender.

Thanks for the info. Shay's are fascinating.

Beauty! Throw in a little snow & it would make a great Christmas card.

I have one in a display case with gray cat hair coming out of the smoke stack. Cat hair look like real smoke along with 2 lumber cars and a caboose.

If you are going to have color in a photo, make the color work. Your photo is pumped, but that it is how I like it. Thanks for letting me enjoy your photo.

As a "train fan" I rode on that train about 12 years ago. The Yosemite Sugar Pine Railroad is located in Fishcamp just south of the park. They have a website www.ymsprr.com with more pictures, directions, facts, etc. for anyone interested. (Also sounds)
