The only thing I can think of is, "Why would anyone want to ruin a good truck like that?"

"Rat Rods" are a separate branch of the hot rod world.

I love the design style of the fenders, grill and headlamps. A kit lowers the truck to the ground when parked?

What a waste of a great old truck.

I have to disagree; the real waste would be to let it rust away into oblivion! This build is somewhere between a sympathetic restomod and a survivor (with airbag suspension).

Right. I drive past a house that had a 1954 Lincoln on the front lawn. I hated seeing that rotting away. When I drove past yesterday, it was gone. I doubt they had it junked because it was in decent shape. I hope to see it restored at a local car show someday.

I don't know the details, but some guardrails alongside roads are "rusty" on purpose. I don't know if the metal is made that way or if they use some kind of coating. The idea is that the "rust" - or whatever it is - protects the underling metal. I could see something like that being used on cars. Rusty but not rusting.

It`s like art, you either love it or hate it. Lots of time and money go into these vehicles. I think they are interesting, I see them more and more at events.

When I was a kid, I knew a guy who had an ugly old car, but it had a big, powerful engine - a typical sleeper.

I like the patina or maybe a very good retro paint job.

The paint job looks like the vehicle was painted with orange and then misted with black or a very dark color to simulate the rusted out effect. In my younger years I was a spray painter and used the old-fashioned spray guns with a material line and a separate air line so misting was relatively simple.

I`ve been going through pictures I took and playing with the edits. Not much going on in the winter months as far as car shows.

How can anyone possibly drive this ?

It either has hydraulics or air bags for the suspension. They lower it to the ground when parked.

Could not drive it on the streets of New Orleans. Would get the undercarriage torn out!

So many roads in so many states are in trouble, the vehicle needs 6 inches or more clearance for many. Greatly concerned about our country's infrastructure.
