They used to have an in store processing center and did all their printing there

The Costco that is near me actually did their printing on site. After they closed their onsite service, they most likely did farm out their work.

I got a letter from them today saying they are shutting down all photo processing Jan 28 and that I can switch to shutterbug (who I personally hate). It is too bad as they did a decent job on smaller prints at a decent price.

I get enlargements of excellent quality from Walgreens in the Orlando area

Check Sam's club. They have a service like Costco's and also do a nice job. My guess is that they too will be shutting down since their operations are similar and if Costco isn't making enough profit to keep the program running, Sam's will decide likewise. Check out photocanvassland.com. I have been using them recently with really good results. I get prints mounted on foam-core for a great price and the photos are excellent. An 8x10 or 8x12 will run about 5.00 with a matt or glossy finish. You can also get a metallic finish for a dollar more. The only prints they offer not mounted on foam-core or styrene are fine art prints and they are more expensive. So far I have been amazed at the quality of the mounted prints they have sent and the way they package the prints is very professional and designed to protect the prints.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I think they will still be doing prints. At 11 cents each for a 4x6 it's hard to beat.

When I use film these days, I have it developed at our local camera store, which has three advantages
1. it ‘encourages’ them
2. I get develop only - I do my own scanning
3. they return the negatives {I hear that can be a problem these days}

I logged my disappointment to them today via phone call. Useless gesture but made me feel a bit better. And no they are shutting down the entire photo group.

As far as Sam’s club don’t you have to belong to them like Costco. I do not have either a Walmart or Sam’s club within 30 miles of me so unless they do free shipping it would be no better than Shutterfly. I looked at their prices to compare to Costco. A 20x30 print is about $10 at Costco with free shipping. A 20x30 at Shutterfly is $22 so even with 50% discount it would be $11 then I have to pay for shipping which is $7! Whole process fails for me when I want to send a single print to a friend or family member. If I am printing a bunch of images for me then maybe $49 order to get free shipping makes sense.

I guess I can look into if I can print via sam’s or Walmart (which I suspect use the same print locations) and have them delivered to a local Walmart for free? I will report back.

It's been a while since I've been there, but Sam's Club Photo in Dover, DE did not require membership for photo processing/printing.

Wish I had a local camera store.. I live in Santa Barbara which used to have one of the premier photo colleges in the world with Brooks Institute ( before the non-profit bought them and destroyed them). We had six camera stores back then not including Brooks itself. Samy’s left before covid so the nearest store is now almost 90 miles away.

@ the guy that mentioned canvasland. I was interested especially because of the backings but their shipping is $11 and if they fail I have to send the image back to them and pay postage.

Back in the day, when I was shooting film, I used Dayne's Photo. https://www.dwaynesphoto.com/ The company is in Kansas. They did a much better, cleaner job than Walmart. They also scanned my negatives, even 120. I switched to digital. The cost of mailing the film was too much for me. Now, I've gone 100% digital.

Do you have a Walgreens close by - they do all sizes and custom sizes too, all at reasonable prices and quickly to boot. If you want you can upload the files and they will print them out and you can pick them up or even in some store they will deliver them. You can order 3 ways - online - instore or through their app

What’s your opinion about the quality of their work?

They have done really good work for me over the past couple of years. Almost everything I have ordered has had the same day pickup except when I have ordered it late in the evening

I have used them for a while now since I joined my community camera club. I was amazed at the quality and sometimes the prints are done in 15 minutes. I always do 8 x 10s. Regular price is 3.99 but sometimes they are half price and the last one I did which was yesterday was free due to a special.
